July 23, 200817 yr So I've just installed KOTOR 2 on my PC bout a day ago. When i was starting the game it scanned my computer and whatnot. When it came back, it was all green except for the graphics card which turned up yellow. I set everything to min. and figured i could still run the game since my graphics card meet the minimum specs. It started and i created my character without any problems, but after the intro screen (A long time ago....) it downright crashes. I've tried disabling sound and movies but it still crashes. And no my computer is not a vista. Thanks in advance. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 7/23/2008, 12:00:31 Machine name: JESSICA Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. July 24, 200817 yr If you've already tried updating your video card drivers, you might play with the resolutions or try running it in window mode. I think that K2 doesn't particularly like that built in video card, though. Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.
July 24, 200817 yr Author Yeah. I think i'm not really sure how to "update" my driver well intel drivers anyways. And i don't think KOTOR has a windowed mode, and im already running all options min.
July 24, 200817 yr It doesn't? Dang, don't I feel stupid now... I guess that was Mass Effect I was thinking of. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Oh, and try updating your intel drivers through Windows Update... or from your PC manufacturers website Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.
July 25, 200817 yr Well some of the Intel chips can do this to Kotor2. Try checking out the Intel site for potential updates. And if that fails use the configuration to disable movies. (its in the kotor setting or configurator I forget ) ""Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things, Revan
July 25, 200817 yr Author ah, i've already disabled both SOUND and MOVIES and it still crashes. Also, I've tried installing drivers but when i try to install them it says "the driver is not validated for this computer" and shuts off immediately. Should have expected Intel to pull something like this....

All I understood was 'very'.
July 25, 200817 yr There was a fix for Intel cards posted somewhere on the forum, I think this is it. Also, have you tried disabling one of the cores on your core 2 while playing Kotor II? If not, try that as the game does not like multi-core systems. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
July 25, 200817 yr Author sadly, i did try what the fixes the person recommended and they did not work =(
July 25, 200817 yr Ok, I just noticed that you are running XP and not Vista - try looking for an XP version of the updates. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
July 26, 200817 yr Yeah, I believe the fixes in that thread were for Vista. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
July 28, 200817 yr Author =( Should i just give up, i highly doubt they're going to make a fix since this game has been out for years now.
July 28, 200817 yr Author i went to dell's website and updated my drivers, trying to boot up KOTOR now
