Well, thanks, I guess.

I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden.

It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai.

So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds

Point understood, but you would think a society able to design mechanical androids that are as lifelike as Bishop or Winona Ryder, and has faster-than-light space travel, and knows genetic engineering well enough to hybridize human and alien DNA, might make advances in other fronts, particularly weapons.

You don't reinvent the wheel. We fling deadly pieces of metal at each other. There's not a lot to it. It's efficient, economical, and compact. It's everything it needs to be. It's almost like expecting chairs to become radically redesigned and replaced with fans that hold us aloft on air currents in our future.

And actually, the truth of futuristic warfare is more likely to come in the form of NBC or mechanical agents than ray guns. We won't send marines in, we'll just drop a payload and hope it only kills the people we want it to kill.

All your points are taken and understood. Personally, though, in a world where I'm fighting aliens with acidic blood that will eat through my flesh if I get splashed by it, and I'm fighting them with things that simply hurl slugs, I better hope I have range. Fighting an Aliens-alien would be the one time I really would wish I had a Star Trek phaser that vaporizes on impact.

Gosh darnit Tale, you just broke my dreams of the future.

But remarkably perceptive.
