.Net Framework and Java runtime environment

Featured Replies

Ive got multiple versions of these two programs downloaded into my pc... I was wondering, should I just uninstall them? I dont think I am currently using any programs that require them anyway.

You are likely not to need Java at all, unless you use Java applets or, say, use Azureus. I'm not so sure about .NET, some software may require it even if you don't suspect it does, you may want to check this.

Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel should extirpate them for you. :)

.Net Framework is often used for some games... Java can go though it's a pile of crap.

NWN2 requires .NET and will install it if it isn't present during game install.

You can uninstall versions of Java separately, since they're kept in different folders. I only have the runtime/SDK installed because I use/edit a java app named Near Infinity. When I download a new update from Sun I uninstall the old version.

;) what a statement...

Multiple installations of Java are not necessary and can be uninstalled separately. If you use Java to program, just keep the version you want to use (although you'd more likely have multiple versions of JDK, not only JRE), otherwise the latest one.
