Best time to convert

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just wondering what level I should be converting people into jedi? I was told by a friend I should be holding back on leveling them up, so when they do become jedi they will be able to get more force powers. But I read in another thread on this forum that Atton should be levelled to 12 first to get a defence bonus. Are their any other must have skills for my team before they become jedi? :o

Well, for Bao-Dur, you could do this. Raise his Tech level to 8 and use that 1 attribute point to bring his Int from 15 to 16, so that skill increments with each level are fairly balanced even when he takes Jedi levels later. Found it easier this way when tried to allow him to become a Guardian from level 9 onwards. If Bao-Dur has Int 16, he might likely have quite a few skills. You need one or two characters to have skills which other character has no points in. Kreia has Treat injury. Mira might likely have Computer use.

Only a suggestion here. For Mira, could make her Sentinel from level 6-7 onwards.

Atton can become a Jedi by level 4. There is are defence increments even with Sentinels leveling up.

Additional Jedi levels also means blaster bolt deflection and further Force point totals.

For your first time through the game, there's no 'best' ;) but it is generally thought to be better to try and not level the npc's up (as much as possible) until you turn them to Jedi. It depends a lot on what you want to do with the character, tho.

For example, Disciple is a soldier, making him a seeming melee kind of guy, with lots o' feat points etc. But if you Jedify him, he's a counselor and stops getting thosefeats so often. Thus for him, I'd raise his level to about 14-16 for the feats to preserve him as a more melee type. If you didn't care about his melee, then you might not do that.

Both Bao-Dur and Atton benefit a lot more by holding off on leveling as much as possible.

There's an influence faq at gamefaqs.com that lists influence stuff. Of course, it has major spoilers so fair warning if you go there.

It all depends on what you want to do with them. If you want as many Jedi levels and powers as possible, then hold off on levelling them up.

I'll give a brief overview of some of the advantages for each:

Atton: He's a scoundrel, and gets a sneak attack bonus every two levels, as well as Scoundrel's Luck as he gets higher up. Skill points are a wash either way, since both classes get good skill points.

For me, I level him up to L7 Scoundrel, since this gives him a very nice sneak attack bonus (+4 to 24 extra damage). Once he becomes a Jedi Sentinel, he can deliver some really nasty attacks, especially with Master Critical Strike and a keen weapon.

Bao-Dur: I level him up to about L8 Tech Specialist, and then switch him over. By this time, he has plenty of skill points.

Mira: If I want her to focus on lightsaber use, I level her up to L7 Scout. Besides, I usually need this level to take on Hanharr... Otherwise, I might even take up to L12 Scout, and focus on blaster proficiencies, if I want her as a ranged attacker.

Handmaiden: Really doesn't matter either way. She's a walking tank, and going from Soldier to Jedi Guardian doesn't make a big difference, unless you want to max out on force powers. I simply hold her back at L6 (her starting level), and after I hit L18 for my own character, will "jedify" her. That, plus it's easier to beat her when she's a L6 soldier, than if she were much higher level, since her Echani Strike feat, along with her high HP total make her a tough customer in the unarmed area.

Disciple: As soon as possible, since I prefer to set him on Jedi Support, and Jedi Consulars are best used in this role. His WIS score is terrible, so I just give him buffing powers.

And if basic points in skills might not be sufficient for your character, there are also other items in K2, like belts, implants, head gear and even gloves that add bonus points to a few skills mentioned with item description.
