Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 You should all get a bloody room. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Darque Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I agree, Darque was a bit off. I find the typical console life expectancy to be 5 years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does it really freaking matter if it's 5 or 6? The point is that consoles are a better value and have longer use before you have to "upgrade" and the fact PC developers are always pushing (always always always) for higher and higher specs each game they make means the target audience keeps getting smaller and smaller
Dark_Raven Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 No. Inaccurate information. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you're basing that on what exactly? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you're basing that on what exactly? Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Darque Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Hey, I am just a typical consumer of goods. I look for value when I buy a major electronic device and a PC has more value than a console. Always have and always will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Roflmaocopterspiraldance... typical? umm... no.

Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Screw you, my 3000$ computer can use Word. Can your stupid PS2 do that? (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Darque Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Screw you, my 3000$ computer can use Word. Can your stupid PS2 do that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, my 400 dollar computer can do that too And I bought a PS2, Gamecube and gobs of games for my 3k. So what are you playing on that beast?

Sorry.
Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I can use Word. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) Curious Hades, what else do you use your computer for? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, there is to much to list. I use Office programs for various sundries I do desktop publishing for various things. I use my computer to watch television shows, listen to music, and the such. I use it as a photocopier thanks to a scanner and my printer. I got graphic editing tools that I use on a rare occasion. I use it for communications such as the Internet and teleconferencing for long distance PnP gaming on occasion. You can't do that on a console. Edited May 16, 2006 by Judge Hades

Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 No, but it helps. Especially when I am trying to learn how to use 3DMax type programs.
Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Didn't his comp cost him 600$? The ability to play games didn't add that much more. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 We'll see how well his computer plays games in a year, let alone 5 (or even 3).
Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 He'll still be able to use it as a photocopier, though. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) So for the price of a PS 3 or an X Box 360 with some games I can use all the software I had before and play the newer games that hasn't come out yet for the next 2 to 3 years. Siounds like a better investment than a lame console. EDIT: I just tone down the settings, Alan. No biggee. Edited May 16, 2006 by Judge Hades

alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 He'll still be able to use it as a photocopier, though. He could still use a Pentium II as a photocopier as well. If you don't want windows XP and just want an internet explorer, you can get away with stuff that is practically 10 years old. Same goes for word processing.

Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) However I am considering in saving up to get a full next gen PC system as being a PC gaming/multimedia machine and use my current computer a secondary device. Edited May 16, 2006 by Judge Hades
Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 So, Hades, do you buy the latest graphics cards when they're just released? I could get a PS2 for little more than 100$ and catch on 5 yrs of console titles if I wanted. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) I just went for the gusto since I'm working and have near zero expenses. Plus, given school, I can declare some of it for taxes. Edited May 16, 2006 by alanschu
