How long's it take for the game ratings (T, M etc) to rate the product? Are final master copies sent to them and usually at what stage of production (say if you decide to change something to meet a rating classification)?

Not sure if it is the same for games as films, but films are sent to the country's censor prior to release (and after post-production, obviously). Any squabbles between the producers and the baord create delays in the scheduled release in the cinema, at the producers expense (obviously). I well remember how long it took for Total Recall to be screened ... I can still quote the teaser verbatim ... >_<

I know movies have to go to each individual country it's being showed in to be rated. I'm not sure about games though, I'd suspect it's similar because I don't think the UK uses the same rating system...Or do they?

I think EU countries have their own rating system.
