Vrook was simply brutally and bluntly honest, not being afraid to give critisism. That's the way I see it. I'd say his view would be 'you have to be cruel to be kind', and although he could be a little (read: a lot) more empathetic, he simply tells the truth. Except for the Revan thing.

He was arrogant, presumptuous and had a chip on his shoulder. He deserved his fate at the end.
