How To Get In The Game Industry?

Im am currently a Freshman in college, I will be attending Concord University over the next 4-8 years havent decided, but what I really want to know is.. This school offers Computer Science now im not sure if this is just programming or if they offer any game design, but how would I go about finding out or would I be able to enter into the industry with a masters degree in Comp Science?? Thank you..

I've heard a Master's Degree can actually be pretty helpful getting into the industry, mostly because getting the Masters is a reflection of having a good amount of programming skills.

 

Computer Science is more than just learning how to program, it's also a study of algorithm design and logic, and is pretty mathematically intense.

 

One thing that might help would be approaching one of the counsellors of the Computing Science Department.

well actually I've looked into a computer science degree but they don't have nearly the lab time that I had when going to herzing for a cis degree I also was the first class anywhere to be taught VB.NET although I'm not currently working as programmer I still do it for fun I've found that to be good a programming it take a passion for programming you aren't just good at it

 

I also am looking to get into the gamming industry but everybody want you to have a ton of experiance even to start out when I have none

 

but on my side is youth and the ability to learn quickly I aslo love to analize code from other people to learn more advanced skills so any adivce would be great

I'm at Melbourne Uni and I'm currently in 3rd year Computer Engineering/Computer Science double-degree. Computer Science is Maths and Algorithms, Computer Engineering is like hardware and digital electronics. The Software Engineering course has two real industry projects so it provides demo code for a job app, but in terms of Games my guess is that you would need to learn all that 3D stuff yourself.

 

There are dedicated "Academies" to learn gaming C/C++ programming but I didn't go for it cos it was too narrow.

I haven't got a gamming degree I'd get one but then I'd need to move and that isn't possible

Yes, I don't know about anything called an Academy. I understand that here in Australia any institute can call itself an academy and strict guidelines apply only to universities.
