Oerwinde
Well, we've had threads devoted to Transformers and Thundercats, I think its TMNT's turn. I'm almost done watching the first season of the new series, and its pretty darn good. Much closer to the original comics than the old 80s series, which I believe just had its 2nd season released on DVD, or it at least will soon. Personally, my favorite turtle is Donatello. Oerwinde
The movies are still good now. At least the first one. I just bought them all for like 25 bucks for the trilogy a couple weeks ago and am in the middle of watching them now. I haven't seen the old 80s series in years, but I'm really enjoying the new series. I love being eternally 14. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. jaguars4ever
Aye. Chronologically speaking, after Transformers & Thundercats (age 2 -5), Ninja Turtles was the next thing for me (age 8 I think). I loved the old series with it's comic charm (Beebob & Rocksteady - oh, the humanity). but I'm enjoying the new series also. Man, on aggregate (new series and old), I've probably seen every Ninja Turtles ep. :D EDIT: Damn! Yes of course, the movies! Ninja Turtles & Vanilla Ice - a timeless classic. ^_^
Musopticon?
The old series is imho better, but the new series is truer to it's roots and the fights don't look so ridiculous. But anyway: Cowabunga! My favorite is Michelangelo. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. Oerwinde
Once I start getting a decent income I'll probably start trying to find all the new and old eps on DVD. Its expensive for the new ones up here in Canada. They're like 18 bucks a disc and you only get 3 episodes, while apparently they're like 10 bucks each down south. When I finally have kids they're going to love me for buying all these cartoons on DVD. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Oerwinde
I think I might have seen one episode of Next Mutation, I remember it not being very good. And they brought in that chick turtle. WTF was with that? The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
jaguars4ever
Of note however, it that the theme song for the new series is quite simply atrocious. Now the old one on the other hand...is legendary: ♫ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Turtles in a half shell, Turtle Power! ♫ --- I remember it not being very good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that's an understatement. And they brought in that chick turtle. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is *NO* chick turtle. <_< --- WTF was with that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Trying to forget damnit, trying to forget! Oerwinde
Has anyone seen the concepts Warner Brothers did to try to get the job doing the new show? They were pretty bad. The turtle designs are really close to the original comics, but thats not a good thing IMO. http://www.ninjaturtles.com/warner/warner.html The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Nur Ab Sal
Turtles are unnecessary addition to April O'Neal and her zip-fastener. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.
Nartwak
Jesus, TMNT. Whenever I try to think about them I get feverish and forget what I'm doing. I think I was a victim of some sort of mass merchandising mind control. I think I still have some TMNT curtains someplace. I know I've got a TMNT bean bag chair in my carport. Darth Flatus
I liked turtles when it came out, but now i think the original series was a little silly - too self referential and shredder was such a doofus. The first film i liked (the movie origin of splinter was hilarious). The second movie had Vanilla Ice - ugh! the third movie was poo as was the live action series and i think some other cartoon of it. The most recent incarnation howeveer seems to be ok i think i even saw a lightsaber in it!!:D
Oerwinde
The funny thing is that the movie origin of splinter is the comic origin. The guys who made the series just figured "Y'know what... Rats can't learn martial arts." and changed it. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Darth Flatus
really? but that secene where the rat in the cage is copying his masters moves, thats insane. IS the comic you are talking babout made after the film?

IS the comic you are talking babout made after the film? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First was the comic, then the series and toys, then the movie, then the not so good movie, then the crappy movie, then the worse than crappy live-action show, now the new good show and possibly another movie, which disregards the 3rd film. Apparently its going to be sort of like the new Superman movie. Where its not a restarting of the series, but its not really a sequel either. Oerwinde
Apparently. I don't know all the info, but over on the SuperheroHype boards people have been discussing it like its going to happen, rather than as something they wish would happen. Darth Flatus
I'm not sure that turtles has a broad enough appeal to be revived in the mainstream - as long as the crapness of the 2 sequels remain in living memory that is.
Oerwinde
I actually think most people liked the 2nd movie over the 1st. I know for a while I did, then I got older. Anyway, the new series is currently on 3 seasons and has been picked up for a 4th, so I'd say its decently popular. If they do it right, they could have the nostalgic people like us, as well as the newer fans flocking to it. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Darth Flatus
if it was made would you prefer cgi turtles or guys in suits? i have the distinct feeling that it would turn out to be a poor martial arts for kids flick with plenty of "bullet time"
Oerwinde
After seeing what was done in 1990 with the turtle costumes, I'd love to see a new movie with guys in suits. The 1990 turtle costumes were excellent, imagine what an effects house like WETA could do now. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
