800 vs. 2000mHz motherboards

Recommended Posts

We're talking Bus speed here. Im buying a new comp and I dont want a chokcing point for my GeForce 6800u(goodbye ATI, I hope we never meet again). But Im on a limited budget and 2000mHz motherboards are naturally more expensive.

Oh yeah, that's a great game! Do you play it on computer or console?

Ps. No, the difference isn't notable right now, but in the future it will be.

(figured it belonged more in "computer & console" than OT)

I was thinking that since the Socket 939 Amd64 has a FSB of 2000, Id need a 2000mHz Mobo to keep up. But, then again, I hear the Amd64 doesnt really have an FSB at all and that its just something..

but I think Ill buy the 2000 just to be on the safe side, that mobo had SLI too so I can just buy another graphics card if I want to(especially when the prices drop)

Good luck finding one of the exact same model and from the same manufacturer after a few months have passed.

My advice: never, ever futureproof when buying computers.

9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!

I don't think my notion of a "limited budget" is the same as yours.

Anyway, isn't SLI only useful if you run apps that support it?

nah I think SLI works on any software that uses the grafixcard to render stuf... (everything i shandled by the driver so the aplication doesn't need worry)

problem is in finding a nice motherboard that suports it and afording to pay the humungus amouns of cash that and the two gfx cards cost...

hmm ATI hardware may rock but their openGL drivers are horrible!

Next time I'm buying Nvidia again, would rather have ok framretes in all games then superb in some and abysmal in some...
