Is loot & random merchant inventory normalized to your level?

What I am asking is if I go see a merchant for the first time at level 25, would he have a potentially better inventory than if I talk to him at level 15? Is there an advantage to waiting until you are a higher level -- or is the randomization of merchant inventory independent of your level?

Thanks.

Can anyone comment on this?

I think that sometimes this is true, mostly for stuff you pick up, like I always get a Jedi Knight or Dark Jedi Knight robe at lvl 21-24 and never before. However I think items sold my merchants are just completely random.

Not sure if this applies generally. But the special dark side shop on Telos seems to have fixed loot.

You want a comment? Random loot generator is awful. Merchants are cool.

I dunno, I think the random loot gen is just fine. Increases replayability and adds that distinct flavor of variety sorely needed for a combat-lite RPG like KOTOR II.

I am, of course, alone in this sort of opinion.

And... why not? They *are* ferocious beasts who tend to swallow things along with their victims. Diablo II had the same system, as well as Dungeon Siege. Bad comparisons, I know, but nonetheless the intended effect is achieved.
