Maxinator
I have returned the game already, and the new one is just the same.
Darth Ni
Hardware... Check your drive and see if it works with other games. If it does, log out and log in with Administrator privelleges. Then check to ensure that no programs are running in the background (e.g. antivirus bla bla bla). Hope it works...

Anyways I gather from ur post, the drive is not the problem. lol, if Half-Life 2 works, then I think I'll be fine hardware-wise I turned off my anti-virus, and Its installing, but its stuck on the per_05 movie. Its been on it for a long time now... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Disable all background services. Obsidian didn't account for all these problems so there are a LOT of clashes/conflicts between KotOR 2 and your other programs.
Tosek
Hello there, I've got exactly the same problem. Is there known solution? I cannot install the game with exact the same error as described above. Regards Tosek
Zhadow
If you have two Cd-drives; Put disc one in M: and install the game from N:
Tosek
OK, I solved the problem for myself: (The paths are in german. They may vary in english OS) Go to Programme / Gemeinsame Dateien / InstallShield and remove (or better backup before) this folder. Reinstall.... this worked fine for me. Is it the fault of obsidian? No and yes. Primary it is the fault of InstallShield, but obsidian should not use this install-tool if it doesn't work correctly. Anyway I can play now. Darth Riker Ketra
Tis true, they shoulda thought about that
Darth Post
I have the same problem, too. The solution is, that you have to enter the first disk everytime this error appears. When you enter the first disk, it will tell you that the wrong disk is in your cd drive and that you should enter the disc number x (x=3-4) at the end you have to enter cd1 again. The game will run without any problem
