Can't get past initial loading screen

I'll ditto that, Rula. I sat, staring at a blank screen for 5 minutes :

 

As for the "fix", it didn't fix my problem as I don't have that software. But it's defintely something to do with my machine - it installed/ran fine on another machine; mine won't even access the CD to begin the introduction (after character creation).

 

edit: after disabling Windows firewall, and updating my video drivers, *cough* it's working.
