December 9, 200421 yr I installed AVG Antivirus 7 free edition and this caused my computer to increase its bootup time by an estimated 2 MINUTES(!) no viruses were found. I did find one SVCHOST.EXE process ran by SYSTEM to be drawing 98% processor power contributing to the slagging down of my system. The problem disapeared after I uninstalled the program but Im left with a question: was it the program itself or a new virus with a "block antivirus progs" feature? heard any rumours going around? December 9, 200421 yr I've installed AVG7.0 on two systems recently and have had no problems at all and definately not the sort you experienced.

December 9, 200421 yr Both are WinXP systems, one has the service pack, the other does not. Neither have a firewall active.
