Kaftan Barlast Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I installed AVG Antivirus 7 free edition and this caused my computer to increase its bootup time by an estimated 2 MINUTES(!) no viruses were found. I did find one SVCHOST.EXE process ran by SYSTEM to be drawing 98% processor power contributing to the slagging down of my system. The problem disapeared after I uninstalled the program but Im left with a question: was it the program itself or a new virus with a "block antivirus progs" feature? heard any rumours going around? DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Phosphor Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Both are WinXP systems, one has the service pack, the other does not. Neither have a firewall active.
