It's a good idea to use the Multi-Tool. This way, we avoid using multiple tools for different tasks, keep our inventory clean and organized, and always have the right tool quickly at hand.
Old school isn't bad either, of course. New things are often difficult to learn.

The new Multi-Tool and Collect are both on the E key. I often collect even though I actually want to hack. Maybe the F key would be a better alternative for the Multi-Tool?
Okay, since it kept happening, I assigned the tool to the F key in the keyboard settings and the "Move Object" function to the G key. If anyone else is planning to do something similar 😉

I would love for the omni-tool to just be a tool in your inventory. I understand wanting to free up inventory slots for the hotbar/inventory, but we could be much more intentional with our actions if we could hold the tool like in Grounded 1. I love the concept of the multi-tool and the devs being able to focus on making more weapons is amazing. Just the execution feels off whenever you try to pick up a pebble and randomly chop at a blade of grass.

I would like if they added a 9th button to the hotbar and that is the omni tool button and we swap to it and can then left click to utilize it. This would be similar to the GW2 action bar were they have the button for swapping kits as as a smaller button to the left with the default hotkey as ~.
