Per the wiki, you can kill Korgrak after recruiting him to get the best reward for the quest "A Farmer's Plight" and he'll still show up at the keep. My question is, if you kill him after recruiting him, what happens if he dies during an attack on the keep? With guest hirelings, you have to wait until they randomly appear at the keep to re-recruit them if they're slain. I'm hoping that he'll simply reappear in the keep like the always available hirelings, but fear that I may have to travel back to Grisly Cave to re-recruit him if he dies, which would be impossible if I've killed him. Does anyone know how this would play out?

I don't think anybody here knows that for sure. 🤔

But the hireling Korgrak and the cave Korgrak are two entirely separate entities (game logic wise). So unless the devs keep tabs on cave Korgrak's status after you hire him (which I doubt) it should have zero effect on hireling Korgrak.

My hireling Korgrak never got killed, so I don't know if you can re-recruit him in a way how you would be able to recruit a Brutish Warrior etc. Given that Korkgrak is a unique character I would say no - I would assume he's permanently gone then.

I also don't think you can go back to the cave and recruit him again. I would assume that if he's still there in the first place (never checked, doubt it though, if it were me who implemented that quest I would have removed his game object once you leave the cave) he should still have the dialogue status he had after recruiting him - where he would just not initiate dialogue but just give some sentence and that's it.

But as I said: never tried that so I cannot be 100% sure.

It seems to me that this case happened in one of my run and IIRC Korgrak appeared again in the available hirelings in the keep as well as other hirelings.
But it was a long time ago, I can be wrong.

If the devs used the code base from occasional hirelings such as Brutish Warrior for Korgrak (why wouldn't they?) - and didn't adapt it, so that he's a one-time hireling only - then that might happen.

Yeah, the two entirely separate entities logic makes perfectly good sense, so I agree that it's highly unlikely I could go back and re-recruit him from the cave. Hopefully Chaospread is remembering correctly and Korgrak will simply reappear with the permanent hirelings if he dies during an attack. If I do kill Korgrak's "double" after recruiting him and he should die during an attack on the keep, I'll be sure to post what happens to him afterwards here. Thank you both so much for the replies!

I was able to get Korgrak to die during a stronghold attack and it turns out Chaospread remembered correctly! He is still listed with the permanent hirelings, so you just have to re-hire him.

Haha, awesome. And thank you for letting us know. 👍
