I'm losing my mind trying to figure out how to Unbind skills leaving the skill slot empty. ((Not replacing with another skill)) I have 3 charge skills applied to my skill currently from trying to figure out how to unbind and now I can't remove them. I looked in the only 11 pages of threads here on this forum and cannot find anything on Google. Seems on Reddit, that many others can't figure this out and left unresolved there as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't think you can, but is there a mechanical reason for this to be important? Or do you just not want to see them there? :)

The best I can think of is respeccing and not learning the skill the next time.

Here's something that worked for me: I respecced Marius, teaching him a new skill. Then I used that skill to replace my 5 bind. Then I respecced him again and took the skill away. Now my 5 bind is cleared. You can probably do a bunch of variations on this, maybe even involving companions you aren't using. If you never use Kai, pick him up, replace all offending binds with his abilities, then replace him, and maybe those slots will be empty.

As proof of concept, here's an entirely empty action bar resulting from teaching Marius Shadow Step, binding it to 1 through 6 and then retraining him to take it away again:

I'm only level 2 and don't have enough skills to do a replacement of all three charges in the 3 different skill slots I accidently put them in. it's very annoying to look at. Yes, I have a bit of an OCD issue. I'm a gamer! I just can't understand why there would be no way to unbind a skill. Geez! every game I played from 1998 till now always had or have a way to unbind a skill and leave the skill slot empty until you were ready to fill it. WoW Vanilla had this option back in 2004!! It was a simple drag and drop. Maybe next patch. At least you answered my question and I can stop trying to figure it out. Thanks Fireballs!

That's a fabulous idea.  Obsidian really needs to fix this though. There were a decent amount of people on reddit complaining about this same issue. But that will work for the time being.  Thanks again!

The only way of emptying a slot is by adding an active ability that is tied to a piece of equipment instead. And then unequipping the equipment (and thereby the skill).

For instance the "summoning spiders"-ring you find early in Scatterscarp. or the "summoning spirit"-ring you can find in Emerald Stair.

Or just bind Marius' "detect treasure"-ability. That one gets removed from the bar every time you visit camp.

That's not a bad idea either. Thanks Frak!
