SubOptimalUser Posted Tuesday at 11:06 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:06 AM Hello! Got all the DLC for Christmas and after a long time owning and attempts i will now finally go all in for a full playthrough. Planning on playing on normal as a human kind wayfarer, mercenary background from the living lands. Cursory reading recommends perception for all classes and a bit stuck between these three stat blocs: Mig 16 Mig 16 Mig 16 Con 12 Con 12 Con 13 Dex 10 Dex 10 Dex 10 Per 10 Per 12 Per 10 Int 12 Int 12 Int 13 Res 18 Res 16 Res 16 What would you guys recommend? What gives me the most content/conversation options and such? Was planning on switching between Estocs and pollaxes for utility. Any opinions?
Boeroer Posted Tuesday at 09:34 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:34 PM The variance in those attribute spreads will make almost no difference in combat. If I had to pick one it would be the rightmost because INT influences the AoE size of White Flames. RES 16 is enough for most dialogue (and you can add an intem with bonus RES, too). Estoc and Pollaxe is generally a good pick for Paladins, especially if you also take Coordinated Attacks and later get the Blade of the Endless Paths (unique Estoc) and Spectacular Spetum (Pollaxe). Both have Marking which stacks with Coordinated Attacks. So you can give stackable +20 accuracy to a party member who attacks the sme target as you which can be really helpful. In case of Kind Wayfarer however dual wielding is a good alternative because every strike of Flames of Devotion + White Flames (it's a Full Attack, so both weapons will strike) will trigger a healing. That's two healing procs instead of one. It's not that important though - Flames of Devotion has only 2 uses per encounter. 1 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Chaospread Posted Wednesday at 09:42 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:42 AM I think you are gonna playing in a full party, aren't you? If yes, all columns are ok, for a paladin INT is important so as Boeroer said last one is the better choice. It has also greater CON, and if you wanna tank it is a good stat, RES 16 or 18 changes little, it is indeed for a almost all a question of dialogue and/or quest resolution... 18 can be better because in one or two cases 20 RES is a score needed for quest resolution but not so important, 16 is enough with +1 or +2 bonus points from item. Another alternatives could be rely on INT more and having CON 10 INT 16 and RES 16, more duration and AoE and not many drawbacks If you play SOLO, something can change...

Oh well... but in this way you can pass from 2 healing / encounters to 4 healing / encounters. If you build a healer, it can be taken in consideration
SubOptimalUser Posted Wednesday at 10:47 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:47 AM Its you, Boreoer! The one they talk about! The legend! I am humbled! I was leaning towards the far left to be able to manage all the resolve interactions, but if you say item buffs and 16 should do it then the rightmost is more balanced. I understood that dual weilding generally is better for wayfarers, but i went with the order from an RP-perspective mostly. Was planning on importing this character to PoE II as a Paladin/Fighter multiclass ie crusader, going devoted/kind wayfarer and going greatswords with the Bloody links (or whispers of the endless paths and nomads brigandine but from what i understand that one is pretty late game) does that sound viable? Stat suggestions? Thank you kindly for the reply! 1
SubOptimalUser Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Chaospread! Yes, full party. Maybe once i complete the game i might try solo but i think for a first full playthrough i would miss out on alot of content. Could i get to 20 with boosts to res with 16 base? Will i be to squishy with 10 con? If i play solo what would you recommend?

Yes, that's viable. Crusader (Paladin/Fighter) is a very durable combination and can have decent offense, too. Some say it's boring, but for a first playthrough I think it's a good pick because it's easy to play and so reliable. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods

While proceeding through the game you get more bonus, also a weapons bonus that stacks with others and until late base game content 17/18 RES is sufficient for almost every content. 10 CON is not squishy with HIGH RES and a supporting party cause Paladin has good health and endurance nevertheless, and again, you can achieve +2 / +3 CON during the playthrough. In SOLO it's very difficult pass the first act with high RES lowering the other attributes. I made a build for SOLO PoTD with MAX RES past act one, but before I MAXED MIG, DES and PER, and dumped RES, see it here:
