i've defeated director schmector on a save file from before the game was in full release and for some reason i dont have access to rebattle him or craft the sour battle axe, is there something else i need to do to unlock the battle axe?

You say you dont have access to battle him? They reset the whole story when the full game launched, so you can't access shmector untill you get all the gold burgl chips and find tully. If you haven't done that yet since the full release.

Schmector is the final storyline boss. Like other storyline bosses, he does not respawn. The recipe for an Sour Battle Axe (and much more) is obtained by picking up a Ominent Data Disk from he's body. Did you loot him?

I was having the same issue. When my friend and I beat him, his model just disappeared. We heard his death sound and wendell commented, we got the corporate kickback mutation, but his body was not there for us to loot. And because we did beat him, we can't even try again. Very sad considering it took us 6-8 tries before we actually won.
