So i just noticed it, not sure if its on my game (modded) or its a bug

I just realised this when i killed a super under-leveled enemy, and an enemy relatively on the same level. I gain around 3-6 focus when landing the killing blow with the equipped weapon, while hitting the enemy without killing it gets me the expected amount of focus, as it should be.

Are ciphers not suppose to gain the normal focus amount when dealing the final blow to enemy, or is it just me?

Focus gain is a portion of actual damages inflicted. You can't inflict more than the target HP.

So if your target has only 10 hp left and you deal 41 damages, your focus gain will be based on 10 damages done, not 41.

It is quite similar to many drain life/drain mana effects from many various RPG.

Yeah - the damage that you then inspect in the combat log can be misleading in this case I guess - because the detailed info shows what got rolled by the "dice". But that info doesn't show that you can't deal more damage than the enemy has health left. Would have been cool if the tooltip showed that last step as well.

I think I wouldn't have realized it if I hadn't done so many "testing" on wild mare patrons.
