Constentin Lévine Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) The on-crit attack from Frostseeker is melee, not the AoE itself but the attack triggered by the crit that cause the AoE. It is an auto-hit, so no Swift Flurry or other melee crit effects. But Spell Disruption work on any melee weapon attack, so it is applied. Here, I crit Birta with the 3 projectiles from Frostseeker, and then proc 3 impact "melee" attacks that cause the AoE >>> 3 Spell Disruption stacks. A Ranger-Mage Slayer with Driving Flight and Frosteeker can silence a lot of enemies at range ! (without Effort+spells I mean) That work with Hylea's Talon too ( 25% Chance to cause Bleeding on melee Hit), and a SC rogue with Vanishing Strike can apply the Shadow Fang DoT from the Mask of the Grotto Deep at range with Frostseeker. Boeroer Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I prefer the convenience of a Mage Slayer/Troubadour with Effort. Add two stacks of spell disruption every 3 secs just via chant - and of course a ton of stacks with invocations like Her Revenge is cool. I also thought about combining Mage Slayer and Priest of Woedica. Cast a writ of sorcery to immediately stop casting and then piling stacks of spell disruption "passively" so that the casters can't cast even ifthe writ runs out. But 3 stacks of Spell Disruption right at the start of the battle against a far away caster also do have their merits I must say... *takes notes* 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Constentin Lévine Posted October 14, 2022 Author Posted October 14, 2022 And for crit, Effort is vs Fortitude, Frosteeker is vs deflection/fortitude. So that can be a alternative weapon for the Mage Slayer- Troubadour in this case. This is what I'm planning. I remember, env. two years ago, I thought the hard drawback for the subclasse (I speak about the 20% friendly spell resistance, I dont use ordinary scrolls and potions) would be compensate by a way to spread Spell Disruption at distance ! 1
Bezhukov Posted September 22 Posted September 22 The point of Mage Slayer is to put the Barbarian himself at that distance, which is often too far/early for buffs to hit anyway, and in situations where scrolls/pots/life-saving spells are too slow. No friendly spells where there are no friends! Would be interesting in combination with Streetfighter played straight to get there immediately (via Escape), then using the abilities of both classes (and items) to survive/thrive in the midst of “unwanted” attention. Barb already has Brute Force to ignore most caster self-buffs. Can also go Ranger for Evasive Roll to get Quick as well, though that’s later than Escape, and Concussive Tranquilizer is a nice one. Charge from Fighter later still but also great.
