Are mods somehow cached?

I tried changing some of my mod files after instaling and then they do not wok any more. Is there some kind of cache that needs clearing if I make changes?

I don't believe so. 

Have you checked the output_log.txt file for mentions of the word "error"? That usually shows if something in a mod is causing it not to load properly.

Issue was the wrong UUID that broke my extension. Thanks!
