Just a smart thing which the game "The Forest" did were they made trees respawning an option which you could turn off and on in the options. I feel this game should have that aswell just with the grass.. I had this whole area cleared of grass and even had a base built there, Im 64 days in on this world and I log in to find all of the grass has respawned.. messes up my whole base and all the progress I made clearing the grass. Kinda kills it for me when it comes to building bases on the ground.

I am beginning to think ground bases are not planned for as you run the risk of grass explosions, hostile mob spawns inside buildings, mob caused building deteriorating. The only safe areas are pretty much paving stones, the log at the hedge(not the marker quest one) some the ground beneath the hedge, inside certain cans, post haze table and under the porch. Seems beyond that you risk wolf spider spawn in when you wake up from bed or mosquitos

The grass regeneration, if you chop even the saplings down, is a bug. I did it in a house me and my friend built, and it grew back maybe from starting the game. Hopefully it get fixed soon, as well as the insects spawning in bases, that is on the bug tracker. From what I understand, the insects should have started to view you as a threat and start attacking you and your base; my guess is that the developers didn’t add it in yet, because I am still able to steal Ant Eggs without them staying mad at me, and my world is 500 days old.

I hope that all made sense.

build stairs or ramps up to the tree trunk and make your base up there. it's away from the grass and insects and is a great central place for zip lines to anywhere in the yard. plus it has a great view. the further back you start your stairs, the higher up on the tree you will be.

Yeah I have had a wolf spider vertically leap up there it seems that if you get too close to those openings the spiders can spawn.  I usually put up Palisades to keep them from causing issues but if they pop in they can spawn on the root holes ore in certain books around the base. It seems they are also set to spawn on the top most terrain which was my base at the time.

This was starting a ramp/stairs from the can going up toward those bracket mushrooms. Made a little camp and woke up to here that hacking up a lung sound.

did you do the fix creature locations from the game preview debug list in the menu? it helps fix their spawns. and you need to go higher than the mushrooms. like waaaaay higher. my stairs start on top of the first garden log thing and, even if i forget to use the location fix, i've never had a wolf spider spawn up there. like i said, the further away you start your stairs, the higher up the tree you will get.

Uhm... I think a good solution for this should be make it like it is on Terraria or Starbound games. You chop it, it never regrows but if you leave inside the hole 1 fiber it regrows, that way you can control it at least inside the game, not by a menu option. The option is there, want grass¿? replan it, you dont want it¿? leave the hole, give us an option to seal them with the shovel. Could be just hidden nodes for the game only visible with the shovel selected, in case you want to replan it... so you can use the shovel to make the hole again and replant it. Because I assume that... those grass nodes are fixed by the map design, right?

i do think pebble or clay foundations are supposed to block the grass from growing back, but it's bugged atm. even though i build my bases above ground level, i do hope they fix the issue for players that do build on the ground.

Yeah I know is bugged since I did read a steam post from other user about this 🤣. But the suggestion was just to give us more control over the map resources and how they grow, because after this posts I saw players getting confused about how it actually regrows, some thought that if you leave the low grass it regrows again, others that it remains cutted and you need to chop it entirely (Myself included was confused at first), all because of the bug. Could be a lot more intuitive since, you are actually planting the grass, there is no way you can get confused if it works like that because you need to plant it.

The shovel suggestion was only for those who maybe dont like to see the holes... or why not, for those suffering trypophobia 😖
