Hiring ship crew in Port Maje?

I'm just starting Pillars 2. I've done the stranded quests and related quests related to Port Maje. My question is do I need to recruit any ship crew before I leave the island?

After finishing the main quest for the island go back to where your ship is grounded. There's a cut scene and you can sail on. You can then travel back to Port Maje via ship to hire crew.
