So this is clearly a suboptimal subclasse... but i do have a weakspot for those, so my question is: How would you build one?

Is the cipher multiclasse the only viable solution, having mind its only for a 1 lvl ability?

Cowardice will be removed by summons, animal companion or charmed enemies.

 

So there's plenty of ways to avoid it.

 

The 100% crit conversion works against all charmed targets - it doesn't have to be the Debonaire charm. So ranged combat is fine as well.
