Snobgoblin Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Hi folks, I have already completed the game once, but since we are getting new content, I would like to give it another go, and try something different than last time I played. I used to play a Battlemage that was a tank, so I would prefer something different. I was fairly kind, a bit of a trickster, and I ended up supporting the Vailians as I was Vailian myself. My party had Pallegina and Takehu as my biggest supporters, but I was struggling with Aloth. So, I have come up with three ideas that I think might appeal to me, but which one would you say fit the story the best, and will the builds even work in the game, or will they be too weak to play? I am interested in: Good attributes and skills to focus on Viability of the concept RP wise and story wise Viability of the character build in battles Priest of Berath Reason to play: I saw many hidden interactions from being a Priest to Berath, and for obvious reasons, it would be interesting to play a character devoted to one of the major deities of the story. Stat focus: She focuses on Perception, Intellect and Perception Personality: Lawful Neutral, no-nonsense, judgemental, traditionalist Combat role: Focus on buffs and debuffs Biggest concern: How do you play a priest that is not supposed to be a healer archetype? Melee seems weak with them? Wildrhymer (Ranger+Chanter) Reason to play: To try something completely new, I thought this mix sounded interesting. The idea is to keep to the back, and summon impressive beasts to fight for me. The character is focused around being bold, practical and imposing, a sort of summoning viking beast fanatic. Stat focus: He focuses on Intellect, Perception and Dexterity Personality: Vicious, bold, strong, practical Combat role: Ranged damage dealer and summoner Biggest concern: I always worry that these type of characters falls quickly in combat. I also worry about placement of summoned creatures - will it be too difficult to manage with track issues and so forth? Inquisitor (Paladin+Cipher) Reason to play: This is a Bleak Walker build, focused entirely on high damage output. He is a cruel and tyrant kind of character, somewhat of a dark knight type, and almost completely opposite of what I tried last time. Stat focus: Dexterity, Perception, Intellect and Might are fairly high Personality: Merciless, mercenary, interested in obscurities Combat role: Melee damage dealer, debuffer Biggest concern: It's difficult to distribute the attributes, since it seems like he needs everything. What would you focus on? I hope you guys can help Thanks!
Myrtillo Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 I can't really comment on the others ideas, but Priest of Berath is definitely next in line on the list of characters I would love to do. You have access to: In my opinion the best summon in the game. (tied with Eothas Incarnate); Good party buffs, good self buffs; Decent damage spells; Revive when needed (even if you don't want to focus on healing, revive fits Berath nicely); Badass summoned weapon with good corrode lash; And as you mentionned great interactions fitting the main storyline. In terms of gameplay, it is very versatile, as you can stay in the backline and buff/cast offensive spells, then quite easily self buff (minor avatar, and potentially spiritual weapon) and plug holes in the melee line when needed/when you are out of spells.
Verde Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Berath is the right pick I think. High level priest spells are awesome, and I'm sure the interactions will be on pt too. Plus as the other posted said, Incarnate spells are the bomb.
