I have a mod that enables the player to always flee when confronted by a ship (or when encountering a ship and choosing to retreat). It works by modifying re_si_ship_combat.conversationbundle. When I modify the conversation file directly, it works fine. When I place it in Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\override\always_retreat\re_si_ship_combat.conversationbundle, it doesn't for some reason. Does the override path not apply to conversationbundles?

For text changes (like yours) you need to include the folder structure which I think is exported>language etc. Don't know if you need to begin with an 'exported' folder inside Override, or if you need to begin with the PoE2_Data folder. I'd just begin with the Data one, make an exported one inside, then a language one inside that one and then one called EN in that one and inside EN one called-- etc, etc, you get it.

For exported>design's databundle files there's no need to keep a structure: just drop the files directly in there. (inside override).

Ahhh, I thought that applied only to stringtables. I'll try it out.

I took a look and it looks like override conversations do need to have a particular path.  It isn't the same as the stringtables, though.  You can find the path in the "Filename" property in the conversation file you're overriding.  This path is relative to the override folder.  So re_si_ship_combat needs to appear at override/Conversations/RE_Scripted_Interactions/re_si_ship_combat.conversation.  I'll add a note in the pinned thread.

This is a bit weird because you can't put these files in a mod-specific subfolder.  We might be able to change this later.

Oh sweet, I saw that in the code but wasn't 100% that would work. Thanks for checking!

  • 1 month later...

The described solution is not working with 1.1 / 1.1.1

OK Fair warning has been applied

I'm gonna move the domain to https://perspak.com early Feb but will keep all content

There are reasons behind this move which basically boil down to unifying my release schedule

My friends are welcome to play (I'll set you up your own areas if you desire them)

Please note that this process is messy so may take a few weeks

EDIT: mistake
