http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23495314 Apparently, the most common reason for refusing to repatriate is because the Human Rights Act prevents us releasing them to their native countries. Clearly, I'm torn between pride in the rigour of the legal system, and horror that the HRA is directly denying justice to the people most affected by the crimes. As a meta-issue, I am increasingly concerned that international treaties of every stripe are a threat to national sovereignty and democracy.

Just a reminder that it is now affirmed to be legal to insult the French president. Members now have legal protection to call any French president a jumped up onion seller, or - if they wish to get intellectual - a metamorphosed ****roach. I like games depicting deeply flawed societies fleshed out in a way so no obvious solutions to all the injustices come to mind. The rule of law - Regular egalitarian societies are boring, but introducing a prominent social contract theory into the mix would spice things up. - Separate courts of law for aristocracy and commoners are getting old.
