Creation beyond our world, other dimensions, gods and their secrets, animancy insight and other metaphysical aspects of Deadfire would be a nice focus for a playthrough. What classes, backgrounds, races, skills and stats influence unique dialogue and book options to explore this part of the fiction? -
PoE is repeatedly appearing to lock up at exactly the same moment in the game, preventing a critical plot action from completing. However, after some troubleshooting, I've found a solution. I'm posting it here in case anyone else might be affected. [spoilers follow.] After entering the Ducal Palace for the Crucible Knights, and following my character's dialog exchanges with the Duc, PoE enters a sort of cutscene mode. The animancer is possessed; the Duc is killed; the Dozens leader kills the hapless animancer, the speaker for the Crucible Knights runs over to the dead animancer and shouts (in an on-screen text blurb) "Stop this at once!" and is hit -- and at that moment, every time, the game seems to lock up completely. "Game paused" is displayed at the bottom of the screen, but nothing I do in the game can un-pause it. My version of PoE is the physical DVD-ROM version, patched to 1.06. ---------------- As part of typing up this note, I've been Alt-Tabbing out of the game, typing here for a bit, and then going back to the game. I've discovered that doing so will let the "cutscene" progress a little further, with various moments of NPC carnage, before freezing again. As I do this, I notice that my CPU (a dual-core E8500 @ 3.15GHz from 2008) is running at 90-98% utilization. After doing this several times, the cutscene finally progressed to my interaction with Thaos. After that, the game ran normally. So, to anyone seeing what appears to be the game freezing toward the end of the animancy hearings: try Alt-Tabbing out and back several times. -
Hello everyone! I wanted to share my fanfiction in PoE world. I wrote six chapters, but seventh (the last) is being written now and should be finished in 2015 (purpose is until PoE hits). Despite English isn't my native language, I decided to translate my story (it's always better than Google Translator ), but I would be grateful for correction by somebody, who likes removing grammar errors, etc. (PM me then). Still I hope that general meaning of the story is clear, it was hard work, but I had fun too. I used game lore, naturally for story, so there may be some "spoilers" (but I don't know it is a good word). I would say that there is nothing new what you can see on wiki and in beta. However there are some my "inventions", but I tried to be so close to the lore as possible. Action takes place in Readceras. Main character is a Godlike, who was raised in temple of Eothas. One day he is offered joining to paladin order (Fellows of St. Waidwen Martyr). Soon after that he gets involved in Eothasian-Magranic conflict with enigmatic animancy in the background, when he sees series of mysterious abuctions... I warn about some "strong moments" in the story (vulgar language, sexual themes, etc.) OK, here is link. I hope you will enjoy it and maybe be inspired to write your own story. Nice reading!
