  1. If you've already gone too far plot/quest-wise and can't make the hutt sleep, you can just use brute force to make that door open.

Just keep clicking on the security option for the door over and over, while at the same time pausing/unpausing. It takes a few tries, but at a certain point, the door'll open regardless of the kath hound fade-out thing and you can run in. I was able to do this in two separate games.

    Nothing like the direct approach!

  2. Oh hell yeah Force Persuasion...

me: You will allow and pay for Obsidian to add the cut scenes to TSL.

Lucasarts: Yes, we will allow and pay for Obsidian to add the cut scenes to TSL.

me: You will revive the Sam and Max sequel.

Lucasarts: We will revive the Sam and Max sequel.

me: There's nothing more to see here. Move along.

  3. Don't know if this is a glitch or deliberate, but:

In Freedon Nadd's tomb, I'd taken a party of Mira (Jedi), Handmaiden (Jedi), and Mandalore.  Mira was leading.  I walked Mira into the Dark Force manifestation, and then...

Party conversation.  Mira outside the Dark Force area, saying it's bad mojo to go there, then Mira responding with the players response.  Couple more go arounds, then Mira comes out stronger for the experience, blah blah.

It seems to be intended that Mira's trying to warn somebody else away from the danger spot, but the end result seemed like she was either trying to talk herself out of it or trying to steel herself for the experience.

lol, yeah Atton was leading in my group and she told him that... I guess they figured no one would want Mira to be a leader? Also she was a jedi sentinel and yet her line says "I may not be a Jedi, but..." >_>

  4. Yeah, I was heavily DS and killed all the Jedi (only the handlebar moustache guy was left at Dantooine). I think what you say to Kreia in Dantooine after offing the last jedi also affects whether you get Force Crush or not. In a previous game, I was somewhat DS, but I gave LS answers to her in Dantooine and she gave me Force Enlightenment. >_>

Force crush just makes everything feel kinda lame, really imo. If you use it on bosses, it's way too powerful, since even if they do a save it still goes through the lift-and-choke animation so they can't strike you at all (they can do an occasional power, but they're basically f**ked). And I still ended up using Storm instead on groups since Crush took too long to do.

I don't even remember what Force Enlightenment does, now that I think about it...

  5. I've been really inspired by the wonderful sketches lately, and I was thinking about Atton's cut death scene (well who hasn't?). I thought wouldn't it be interesting if Atton's death put Exile over the edge and made her go all DS, wanting revenge? Sort of like Anakin in AOTC...

So I did a little quick sketch (well had to be quick since it's 3 am and I'm tired ;)):

    revenge.jpg

    my Exile model there... :p

  6. I reckon Malak to be honest. Malak was a real sith lord, Kreia was just a conniving, manipulative old cow.

I actually don't think she's that old, just really disfigured.

LOL, actually, you could be right... I mean so many characters look like they aged 50 years (*cough* Disciple) when they go dark side... who knows, maybe Kreia was actually Exile's age. :D

I agree though, Malak was a sith lord... Kreia was... er... in a class of her own, really. She wasn't a jedi and she wasn't a sith either... she suited her own purposes and kinda forged her own path, although I found her way more annoying than a sith lord. >_<

  7. If he was lightside, I vaguely remember her just saying that he will always be a fool, which annoyed me.

Well, I think the light side one is also quite clear that she said he loves you since I see Kreia as someone who firmly believes that, "Only fools fall in love" ^o^

I hate her... <_< I loaded up my LS game to see again what she said and she says he's a fool and that should answer my question, and that he has nothing to offer me. I guess you're right about that "fools fall in love" thing, but I hadn't thought about that when I read her reply... lol all I was thinking was "answer the question, dammit!" since she didn't even say in the least bit whether he cared or not, as in her DS answer.

edit: oh, and WOW did I feel guilty about making Atton embrace the dark force pools in Nadd's tomb this time around. When I made him reject them before, he was really happy and it was clear he believed he could finally redeem himself... but when I made him DS this time he kept saying he didn't want to talk about it and was so withdrawn and cold. ;)

  8. Y'know, I redid the ending today as a darksider, and realized that Kreia gives you a more certain answer about whether Atton loves you or not... well it's still indirect, but a bit clearer than if he's lightside.

If Atton has been made extremely DS, Kreia says he'll stay a murderer and end up going down a self-destructive path of murdering jedi until there are none left. When you ask if he loved you, she essentially says he can't really "love" anything anymore (that line randomly reminded me of Carth's "you may not love me... you may not love ANYTHING anymore" line), but that he would certainly die for you, and one wouldn't die for someone they don't care about.... very key words there.

If he was lightside, I vaguely remember her just saying that he will always be a fool, which annoyed me.

... so it sorta sucks that she's more direct when it involves a more tragic end to their relationship.

What was kinda nice, though, was that my influence with Disciple was less this time around (plus he was halfway DS) so Kreia said because of his fear of betrayals (mine, I guess) there was no love there and that his rule as a senator would be a cold one. muhahahah....

  9. Like I give a crap about what the devs thing. At least Bioware had a respect for continuity. One mess up, ONE, in KOTOR. The valley, and the real one was to big to fit in anyway.

The general consensus HERE. The REAL star Wars Boards KNOW what a Basilisk War Droid is.

I need not sway anyone, because the Beast is a Basilisk War Droid and the Virago is not. Continuity says so, and in the game it is a Mistake. That will either be fixed by Dark Horse or the Holocron.

Though next time, Obsidian whould respect continuity.l

Oh man, get over yourself. You're a hypocrite. So you're saying it's fine for Bioware to make a continuity screw-up but Obsidian isn't allowed one? According to your prior elitist stuff, that should indicate that Bioware is also to blame.

In any case, these games are made to try and please a wider audience than just Star Wars elitist geeks. Sometimes changes are made to create a more acceptable product or to appeal more to everyone playing. Star Wars itself is fraught with continuity errors everywhere in the EU and non-EU, so crying bloody murder over this is old news anyway.

Besides, if your intention was to bring this to light for Obsidian to address, then you've made your point. By beating this thing like a dead horse, you're just weakening your own side, and making yourself look like a fanatic.... and you SHOULD give a crap about what Obsidian devs think because if they do end up handling the third game, then they'll have the last word about all of this.

  10. Oh god... can some mod please lock this thread or something? There's already another crazy thread of this nature... and in any case, nothing constructive will come out of this eternal argument. Whether good choice or not, the droid is how it is, and saying mean stuff to to developer who made the choice is certainly not going to garner you any pull with them about changing things.

The general consensus is that people like the basilisk the way it is presented, so you're not going to sway everyone into some mass riot over the topic... either let it go, or if you're so mad then mod it yourself so you can see that lobster-thing whenever you like.

  11. Eji, I was wondering if you'd be interested in drawing up a comic roughly based on the little "what if" dialogs done up between Kreia and the Handmaiden in the Kreia/Kae question thread? I know you're more of an Attonoholic but it might be a fun fan project

 I sorta have a project at the moment that I'm in the beginning stages of, and I think that's going to take up most of my time. Eisu draws some really wonderful handmaiden drawings though (the thread's around here somewhere I think) ... maybe he'd be game..?

  12. Okay, then take your wrinkled old prune back home with you. ;)

    ;) He's not wrinkled... -Influence

He~y, you're not that many years my senior. But hey, if you want to play mom to Dustil, who's probably your age, fine by me, but talk about some serious resentment issues.

Eh, well Dustil would probably benefit from a female figure in his life... but how old is he, really? I never once thought he was around my age... he always seemed like a teenager.

Well then, you must be referring to my award-winning personality and skewed view of reality. How nice to meet another so maladjusted! :D

Yup, my view of reality is definitely skewed... usually shows through in some of my drawings. :(

  13. Some of that trailer made me think....

I'm sure this has been discussed amongst people before, but when Obi Wan says "you were the chosen one!" in the trailer, it made me think this over. ... was Anakin ever REALLY the chosen jedi? I think he's really more of a red herring than anything else. The chosen one is the one who brought "balance to the force"... and I have the stubborn belief that it was Luke who was chosen, not Anakin. Anakin may be way more powerful, but he fell so damn easily to the dark side, and would never have risen against Palpatine in ROTJ if it wasn't for Luke getting through to him. Luke had also been tempted by the dark side but refused it, and it was clear from the beginnings of his training that he had a stronger will than Anakin.

I have a feeling the council had it completely wrong thinking Anakin was the one (well obviously they paid for that mistake, but still), and it would be interesting if, at the end of Episode III, they allude to the fact that the REAL person who'll bring balance to the force is still to come.

  14. I was thinking about Halflife 2's characters and realized...

What I would love to see in a third game would be more/improved CHARACTER ANIMATION...

oh god, PLEASE... like more expressions, more movements, more varied reactions and better lipsyncing as well (I noticed kotor1 was a bit better about mouth-matching / syncing than 2). I mean, the current animations are fine I guess, but you would gain so much more by adding more expression sets to the faces. A lot of the time, the conversations only really worked because the acting was solid. You'd draw the player in even more if the model acting was more convincing. Having an occasional shrug and a head tilt here and there, doesn't quite cut it. :(

  15. I posted what as supposed to be the characters' official ages in another thread. Atton's is supposed to be 29-32, which since I'm 22 - is a hell of a lot better than 38. Additionally, in KOTOR II, five or so odd years have passed since KOTOR I, which makes Carth eww... like 43! Almost twice as old as me!

Aw... middle age people need love too! LOL :D hehehe...

I think that's the funny thing about videogames, though... if you put both their character models side by side, I don't think Carth actually looks all that much older than Atton (well, hell they used the same model for kotor2, so I guess he ages well). Hell, if he shaved he might seem more like Dustil. >_> Canderous and Jolee certainly look old though... :/

I'm a couple years older than ya, though, so maybe mr. Onasi's age doesn't bug me as much. ;) Plus, if I were somehow in that world, that'd mean I'd have aged 4 years as well... hm.. a 24 year old and a 38 year old... *ponder* Well, almost 25, but still... *tries to do the math* lol

But, I digress... I feel I've wronged you by not reinforcing my Atton love enough. :( I'll make a nice drawing to fix that. :) In many ways -- good ways -- you remind me of myself and I'd like to make things right between us. :D

... lol ok ok, so that was a stretch, but I still mean well. ;)

  16. Atton rocked though, I've been wondering if I could call my boyfriend Atton in the throws of passion without him noticing....  He'd probably think I was crazy.

LOL... either that or he might be a bit mad that it's someone else's name.

Hehe, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Atton (he's what interested me in the sequel to begin with), but if I was forced to choose between the two, Carth edges out in the end.

Hm... how old is Atton, anyway? I always kinda thought he seemed like he was in his early 30's or so (from his experiences and how he acts)... not so much older than Carth really, who's 38.

off topic, but since Bao's gotten so many votes lately, I'll put this up too, so I don't get too much hate for the Carth pic
