  1. This isn't accurate. Obsidian Entertainment may be a new company but many of it's founders are hardly new to game developing. Many are the same guys that did Fallout 2 among other games and Fallout 2 was a great game, but it had game stoping bugs. The final patch released still left the game with many horrible bugs that would render the game unwinable. (Hubologists in San Fransisco anyone?) Then you're talking about this nicely timed first patch LOL, please. The game wasn't even STARTABLE for many people. Go buy a game and it won't even load the first area? Pathetic. But this would be something you could accept if they promptly released a beta patch just for that problem. How long did it take them? Unexceptable. Whoever is to blame. I bought this game because I loved Fallout 2 despite the glitches. It's still my favorite RPG and I have to respect those related. I also loved KOTOR1, but this game, while having HUGE potential is a disgrace. Incomplete ending in addition to the bugs. I've lost some respect for these guys. It's the same technical problems I experienced with Fallout 2. I hope the blame truly is all Lucasart. I would like to think so anyway, but it's hard to anymore when history repeats.
  2. Yeah, I just got that today and what a godsend. I hated it in KOTOR1 but it's 10x worse in this since it bugs in the late game every time for me so far. After you complete the last planet it seems to start doing it. Too bad it's not like the Speed bug in KOTOR1 where the powers effect remained too. :D Now if only someone can create a mod to block all headgear models so I can wear a nice piece of headgear without feeling like a fairy princess... *fervent prayer*
  3. Anyone experienced this glitch? With map transitions, you enter a portal to another map and you'll step through an invisible trigger which causes the next level to load.. well sometimes when I have force speed on and fly through these doors fast I go right through without it doing anything. If I then walk back out it loads. Happened twice on Telos and somewhere else. Oh well just something to note. Oh and is it just me or is Pazaak extremely buggy? I've had a specific player beat me after I beat him twice and the game thinks I won anyway. And other times the score is entirely botches and I win when I shouldn't or lose when I figured I'd win. Those yellow special cards seem to confuse the game.. or just me? Edit: Ok one last tangent. I found (Thanks to this forum) the mod to disable the Force speed blur, but question.. am I alone in that near the end of the game the force speed blur gets stucks and doesn't go away? The power itself is spent yet the blur stays until I hit Force Speed again. To fix it, I've found if you use the Speed ability then just stand there until the power ends without moving it then isn't blurred when running normally. A bit annoying.
  4. Ok character spoiler Then there is
  5. Well I guess I was wanting to know what people thought about progression of a middle man character that would like to focus slightly on melee. After character creation I'm just not really sure where I should allocate those rare attribute points. Since in this game skills actually matter or especially repair, I can't see going with Guardians and what I read about Sith Mauraders being broken... Oh and as you guys say, there are tons of stat items everywhere, but you could definitely focus on one or mix it up. Well, this time I was thinking of trying out critical strike if that makes any difference? Sorry for the n00b questions and thanks.
  6. Ok, yes I know jack and $# about these rule systems and yes I guess they are great and it's really me that sucks... but! Could someone please explain how I should go about making a melee type sentinal character? I'm a bit lost with this finesse feat. It's only to effect To Hit by it's description... so how should I deal with damage bonuses? Do I just crank out the Dex? Put some in str? Should I create him with crap dex, huge str and will that screw this type of character up? Arg! I wish the book would explain more. Or I had a brain.
  7. I'm not having stuttering or a major problem but my EAX is screwed in this game only. It works fine in Half-Life and Battlefield Vietnam and the rest. Not a major problem, just certain sounds are muffled no matter what.
  8. because they are stored under a different character, if you look on the bottom of the load screen (saying its the same setup as the Xbox its on the bottom right hand corner) it should give you an option to change your characters do this and you should find you saved game. The devs did this to help keep people from saving over game saves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lol, wow. Good call on the different character slots, but maybe they should have mentioned that in the tutorial. Or maybe they did and I somehow missed it. I've only been referencing the book for stuff like the saber stances. I just got on again to whine about how I too got bored about 2/3 through and thinking of some new creation possibilities and models and cheating to see what they'd look like as evil, I tried the same thing.. screen glitched so I closed the game and when I came back for my old game? Nothing! I was speechless and stunned for a moment. Whew. Edit: Arg new problem for me. Wierd screen glitch wouldn't go away until I changed resolutions from 1024x768 to 800x600. I've played most of the game with the previous setting. Switched it back to 1024x768. Same problem. Changed refresh rate from 85 (My monitors max) to 60 which is the lowest it goes and it worked. There was this flickering graphical scrolling glitch. Tried some other 3D games with no problems at all. 5.1 drivers on ATI 9800 pro. Awesome game Obsidian, but good god, give us a patch!
  9. Well it crashed alot more for me and also when I got to the Leviathan there was a game stopping bug with an elevator. Reloaded way back since I suck with saves. Later a workaround fixed it though. The save games would freeze 1/3 through, just like they do for me in part 2. EDIT - Oh and the sand people disguises were totally bugged. They worked the first time you used them but when returning they were like wearing "Clothes". Oh and the FMVs would stutter really bad and basically be unviewable sometimes. Then there was some problem with leveling up where your stats would change to all 8's or something. I forget now. Dialog would completely glitch at times like it was on fast forward and you would miss whole lines of text. Probably a million more. Yeah it was buggy.
  10. Okay, I on a desktop which is running an Athlon 2600 and a ATI 9800 pro. My biggest complaint is the frequent lockups when I try loading save games. Probably 50% of the time. Oops, said the wrong thing in a dialog? Need to reload? Frozen. 1/3 through loading save games it freezes and even if I shut the game down and try reloading it still freezes in the same spot. Just like it did in KOTOR1. This is rediculous. If I reboot the save file loads fine. Loading from map to map works flawlessly, but loading save games locks up half the time. Also if I close the game and wait 10 minutes or so.. the game loads the save again?! I'm not a Swoop Race guru or anything so I can basically forget doing that. Pazaak? Hah, forget it. Might have to actually load the game? Then I crash to the desktop every once in awhile. Not a huge problem as this crash never presents loading issues and it's mostly rare. I too notices a pole attached to Atton's head. Reload fixed it. As someone else mentioned the alien dialog is infuriating. In KOTOR 1 the speed was fairly slow, and you could always advance it with your mouse if you wanted. Same problem with the CD install too. It kept asking for disc 1 in an error msg. Awesome! The same swoop race glitch someone else spoke up where I beat the last ranked guy yet he said I didn't beat any records? Ah well, the rebooting is too annoying anyway. Recently I did something evil to an NPC and a new companion I picked up with a funky arm forced a dialog berating me while kreia ran off to attack a robot. The new guy apparently noticed and started firing on the robot with his blaster while casually telling me off, all in the cutscene? ----- I've been trying different drivers. I started with ATI 5.1 drivers.. tried 5.2, switched to 5.1 omega, then to 4.2 omega beta, then to 4.11, and no matter what I always get this rediculous loading glitch with save games 1/3 through loading. This happens sometimes every other load, or every few loads. ATI and Bioware didn't do #$^@ about KOTOR1. Obsidian Ent. obviously isn't going to do anything. Or they would have fixed it before releasing it. Ati never bothered to release proper drivers for a GOTY so they aren't for this. Awesome game! If you end up at a black screen or the game appears to lock up, please press <ALT-F4> before trying anything else. If this fails, press <CTRL-ALT-DEL> once and choose <END TASK> on Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, which should take you back to the desktop. NOTE: Windows 2000 and XP users will need to click on Task Manager, and then choose <END TASK>. If you do not see a dialog box after pressing <CTRL-ALT-DEL>, press <ENTER> twice and this should take you back to the desktop. Then restart your computer and try running the game again. --- LMAO Reboot! You guys are AWESOME!
  11. Forgot to mention the biggest flaw in the game. I know it's 10 times more work to implement, but can you guys PLEASE allow people to recognize that I am darkside earlier? It was plainly laziness on Biowares part that only at the end did anyone know I was evil. It made the entire game seem ludicrous. Personally I was really excited once I learned about the Sith Academy, then knowing in the end that nothing changed, it was really a letdown. I always expected a good or bad choice which was GREAT. Even Fallout seemed to have some situations where you didn't have much of a evil option. But a more defined evil path would have been great too. Not just recognition. And my last complaint... I know it makes development 100 times more difficult.. the same as above, but please let use kill who we want. PLEASE . Or maybe with Pazaak if we have mental domination "You WILL lose to me" *waves hand*. Sure, we can then kill the wrong guy that breaks the game but Morrowind (Which I hate overall) was done the best IMO in that it tells you that killing so and so breaks the game. Warnings about saving. Sure there are morons in the world. But give us alittle credit. That system is acceptable for most of us. If not this, give us more people to victimize.
  12. Anyone can fall to the darkside. Luke Skywalker beat Darth Vader by falling to the darkside briefly. He embraced his anger and beat Vader down. Realized his mistake and shut his saber off. But it should be difficult and maybe impossible for some sure. Juhani? I nearly uninstalled the game in her case. She's fallen to the darkside previously and I turned her back. Now later in the game I make her MURDER someone? I guide her into embracing her hatred, anger, bloodlust, and she MURDERS someone? But then says some rediculous crap like, "No! No, that was wrong... ahem. Shall we be on our way?" And on the same note... I hope they don't make everyone so stupid as they did in KOTOR1. As someone said.. the facial change.. Nobody noticed this? Alright, maybe none knew that that particular look meant Darkside.. uhh ok, but when I'm doing the family fued quest and I intentionally do the bad thing... ending by saying "Kill them! Kill them all!" And Bastila says, "Nooooo!!" Then "SHouldn't we be moving now?" There is something wrong... I was LMAO from the great scene and then the hilarious reaction from NPCs. Just lame. And PLEASE Obsidian... don't let Lucas Art force this into a PG game. Remember Fallout and taking a minigun to a childs head and watching it shreaded into bloody pulp? You guys know what we want OK maybe not that extent in KOTOR 2, but IE I do the Romance with Bastila and FINALLY we get to the kissing and... ahh ehh... UMMM... HUH?! Fades to black!? BS. And then she is a cold cast iron B^*ch through the rest of the game. Very disapointing. At LEAST show us kissing her. I mean Luke was sucking down Leia's tongue in the original Star Wars. Getting it on with his own sister. Han always has his hands all over her and plenty of sexual comments not to mention he kisses her. Wait a minute.. now that I think of the new movies I think Bioware was directed by George Lucas himself. I mean Anakin goes and kills the Men.. the WOMEN... tHe ChIlDrEn! And is totally grinning like a malevolent bastard all while telling Amidalla and she just says some idiotic consolation nonesense like we all have our bad days... then pats his head. Lastly please do NOT keep the Pazaak card game. Give us something else. Or if you insist on keeping that hidious game don't force us to go first. Personally I can't stand that game OR the swoop racing. The card game is simply tedious. Especially playing on the Yavin station. Oh my god... And the swoop racing. Don't bail on it like Bioware apprently did. The dialogue about upgrading it then there is nothing anywhere to actually upgrade it? Add that if you keep that monotonous game. Swoop racing wasn't too horrible. Just bland. The card game however... my god in heaven. I wanted to thrown myself in front of a bus.
