  1. That's a good point. I have what I consider a fairly decent system: P4 3.6GHz HT 256MB PCI-Express ATI Radeon X800 XT 2GB RAM Perhaps that's one of the possible reasons for me not having experienced slowdown, or any one of the previously noted issues.
  2. Wow. You are really hostile, you know that? To even suggest, let alone accuse me of lying is not only rude and completely uncalled for, but baseless. What could I have to possibly gain by lying? I'm not denying ATI said there was a lag issue;however, that does not mean it affected everyone or everyone the same way. Hardware and software can be fickle. As I have said numerous times already, I have experienced NONE of the problems reported with an ATI card and drivers 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4. Maybe you and some others haven't been so fortunate, but that is my experience with ATI and KotOR 2.
  3. I can't speak for you or others here, but what I do know is that I haven't experienced these problems. If they were truly universal (i.e. drivers) issues, then I'd have had the same problems. I've never used driver 4.11--only 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 and all three have worked perfectly, so I can't very well blame ATI for "bad" drivers, when in my experience, the drivers have been fantastic. Overall, I've had far better experiences with my current ATI card (and its drivers) than any of the four Nvidia GeForce cards I previously owned.
  4. The OS is Windows XP Professional w/ SP2. As I said, the only editing I have done to my swkotor2.ini file is enable cheats. I haven't disable the vertex buffer, and I see no reason to do so. The game plays perfectly as it is.
  5. That statement makes no sense. Cheats are a seperate issue, and wouldn't very likely have any effect on whether or not one faces technical or graphical issues. If anything, cheating would make the game more unstable and more prone to problems. I've played through the game the first time without cheats. I then enabled them to experiment and have fun, in addition to gaining certain items I didn't collect before due to the random item generator. So having played the game with and without cheats, and with three different versions of ATI drivers, I have to say that on an ATI card, KoTOR 2 plays extremely well. It runs smoothly and looks great. Once again, I blame these supposed problems on the pc configuration and how clean the hard drive is, not the particular driver or card. If it were the latter, I wouldn't have been able to play like I did.
  6. I didn't see this response until just now. I'm currently using Catalyst 5.4; however, I've played through the game with both 5.2 and 5.3, and those work just as well. The only modifying I've done to the swkotor2.ini file is enable cheats. Otherwise, it remains exactly like it was when I first installed the game.
  7. I've got a 256MB GDDR3 ATI Radeon X800 XT, and I haven't experienced any of these problems. I've played the game with the 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 catalyst drivers and zero graphical or technical issues. No slowdown, no corruption, etc. I don't know what's going on here, but I have to think that maybe its the pc configuration and not necessarily the card or the drivers.
  8. I have to imagine the problem is due to the game's engine and not the video card itself. I've got a PCI-Express 256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT, and I have yet to experience ANY of the numerous bugs that have plagued ATI card owners on this board. Maybe I just keep a very clean PC, or perhaps I'm just lucky. Whatever the case, KoTOR 2 (and every other game I have) runs just fine.
  9. Yeah, this is really bothering me. I've already played an LS game, and saying and doing things there came more naturally to me. If someone did something to help me, I said "thanks" and in general, I didn't act like an ass for the pure sake of acting like one. In my DS game (which I'm playing right now), I have to be the worst SOB in the galaxy just to get DS points. It's a little ridiculous. I don't recall Darth Vader or Palpatine being a thug or jerk just because it made them feel good--they acted evil when it suited their purposes and were, more often than not, subtle about it, using fear to do more damage. I recall this also being somewhat of a problem in KotOR 1. I played a DS game there, but it didn't seem quite as bad. Maybe there were more opportunities to act less like a thug/ass/jerk and more like a true Sith Lord. I don't know. All I do know is that being a Darksider here in KotOR isn't easy, when it falling to the Darkside should be one of the easier things in the game.
  10. Open up "swkotor2.ini" and under [Game Options] write the following: EnableCheats=1 Most, if not all, of the cheats from the first KotOR work in KotOR II. The main difference is that you won't see anything written on the console while typing after pressing the ~ key. This could potentially lead to typos, which of course would mean that the cheat codes themselves wouldn't work. Make sure to spell correctly when typing in the codes. For a list of the cheat codes themselves, click here. I hope that helps.
  11. Cool. I didn't know about appearing in the opening screen. Okay, thanks for the answers everyone.
  12. So if I pick Sith Lord, should I choose Jedi Consular or Sentinel as my starting class? Both have some good and bad points to them. As I said in the first post, I used a Sentinel the first time around. I'm just wondering if it's better to use a Consular if I'm going to go the Sith Lord route, or if I should stick with the Sentinel.
  13. I've already beaten the game once as a Lightside Jedi Sentinel/Weaponmaster, and now I'm thinking about replaying the game on the Darkside. The one question I have is which Prestige class should I pick: Sith Marauder or Sith Lord? What are the advantages and disadvantages to both? I like lightsaber combat and using force powers, and I remember being pretty powerful as a Weaponmaster with both. I realize the Sith Marauder is basically the evil version of the Weaponmaster, but the idea of being a Sith Lord intrigues me. So for those who've played either or both, I'd appreciate your comments and/or suggestions. Thanks ahead of time.
  14. Hi. I'm new here. Well, not new really--been lurking for quite a while... Anyway, this project sounds really good. I've already beaten KoTOR II once, and from looking through the guide, it's obvious there's a lot that was cut and/or left out. Come to think of it, I wonder if the two guys who wrote the guide actually played the game, since the version they wrote about was the way it was supposed to be before the cuts. Btw, Jellybelly asked a good question: Will we need to start a new game for these fixes to work correctly?
