I like old anime the best. Macross, Lupin, Outlanders, Lodoss War, Fist of the North Star, Battle Angel, Heroic Legend of Arislan, Bubblegum Crisis, Ninja Scroll, Blood - the Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, all of Miyazaki movies and movies based on Shirow's work. Most of these are pre 2000. :|

^^ My thoughts were exactly the same with Deja Vu.
Last three movies I've seen recently are 28 Weeks Later which was good but I felt the original was better. Shooter with Mark Wahlberg was a good popcorn flick which I enjoyed. Pan's Labyrinth I really liked.

I don't expect customer service when I go into a shop so I'm never disappointed. If anything, I dislike employees coming up to me asking if they can help me. I know it's their job, so I try to go in and get what I need and get out as fast as I can.

Didn't notice any allegories when watching BSG. But then I'm just watching it for the entertainment value and not looking for meanings.

To prove his case Thompson intends to present neurobiological research that shows how children's maturing brains are organically conditioned to respond in certain ways to specific types of stimuli. Over time, studies suggest that learned responses become hard-wired into the brain. Video games can be particuliarly effective tools for that wiring because they are interactive.
I'm going to have to sue the Church concerning the Bible as it's arguably the most violent book on earth. Who's looking after the kids that have to go to scripture? Our children are being hardwired with all this violence.

Well...why the displeasure that it hasn't been mentioned?
Didn't you just mention it?
No displeasure on my part. It was merely an observation. If there's any displeasure, it seems to be coming from people like yourself that I did mention the show.

Already moving up my list of favourite people.....
Regardless, you made a comment indicating the lack of Dr. Who, and he gave an explanation.
I'm glad I'm one of your favourite people. Thank you. I simply wanted to correct a misunderstanding that I wasn't asking a question.

Dr Who is NOT an 80's early 90's show.. I would classify it as a 70's show if anything
Dr. Who is an 80's show as well as being a 70's and 60's show. Unless you discount all the episodes done by Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy during the eighties.
-
Well the thread is about 80's and early 90's shows, with the first part covering tropical shows. I am pretty sure that remit was fullfilled (unless anyone can think of another show) so it is perfectly acceptable to widen the remit to other 80's and early 90's shows. Mr Barlast has kindly amended the thread title to reflect this fact.
I'm not sure Dr Who fits because it is a brtish sci fi show spanning five decades and it is still running.
It stopped in 1989 and has been revived after a decade. I don't see a problem with it being British or sci-fi and not mentioning it, since the thread title covers all genres.
-
I do realise this. Not sure why you had to point this out as I saw shows like Benson being mentioned which isn't action nor a tropical show.
Because you asked why Dr. Who hadn't been mentioned.
No, I didn't ask a question. I made a statement. If I had asked a question, it would have been something like, "Has Doctor Who been mentioned?"
-
The thread was originally about Tropical/Action style shows. Now it is just mentioning every TV show that aired in the 80's.
I do realise this. Not sure why you had to point this out as I saw shows like Benson being mentioned which isn't action nor a tropical show.
And I don't see Dr. Who as just an 80's show because it has spanned so any decades.Seems irrelevant when people mention shows from the sixties like Gilligans Island. So the 80's, 90's reference seems to be irrelevant too.

Concerning this story, I said on another forum... yeah and every 22 years, when the suns go into alignment and there's an eclipse by the moon, beasties come out and play
-
I've been through the thread and if I'm not mistaken, no one has mentioned Dr. Who.

<LAME>What? The only members of the Seekers were Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. Unless you count Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust.</LAME>
hehe. I didn't think of that. you are correct. B)

I ran into Whoopi Goldberg in a bookshop in Sydney and spoke with her with a friend and chatted a couple of minutes and got her autograph. I've met Keith Potger, founding member of The Seekers; Des Renford, swam the English channel 20 times; and fortunate enough to meet Ricky May before he died
I've also had christmas lunch at a friends place with 5 people which included Tony Greig [the cricket commentator] and his wife Vivien.
and Henry Lawson is in my family tree.

I'm an Astrophysicist, although I know teach secondary Physics. You don't do it for the money, that sucks, you do it because it interests you.
Around here if you want to make good money without working all that hard your best bet is to leave school at 16 and train as a plumber.
haha. That's quite true in a lot of cases. If you want money and heaps of it, you don't neccessarily need a degree.

Due to the growing situation in Iraq, which from people I know serving in Iraq convey to me, we are not doing as well as the media is showing over there.
Personally I think a draft possibility is very high in the near future no matter who gets elected. As IMO Kerry as well as Bush, are now obligated after the poor managament of our country the Bush admin has led us with in the Iraq situation.
I provide a search link because one site doesn't really sum it up, as well as all the sites. lol.
As the saying goes, hope for the best, prepare for the worst. And I wouldn't like to see my fellow Americans blindsided by a draft, as niether candidate will dare talk about it until after the election.
more meat for the grinder in Iraq. I'm sure Bush and his arm chair generals are happy, safe and sound back home.

With the director Paul W.S. Andersson directing this movie... I'm going to have to agree with the tagline: "Whoever Wins, We Lose".

The Boondock Saints surpised me. I saw it a few years ago and wasn't sure what it was about and it totally rocked.
