  1. Didn't know there were others out there that believed Nihilus is Revan. And it's not that I thought it was that just 'cause he had a mask. That just gave more reasons to the possibility in that there is no background to Nihilus, and no way at all (aside from his height and possibly that Visas calls him a man if she is referring to gender) to correctly say that he is or isn't Revan. True, there isn't a hint that it could be Revan. There isn't a hint at all of what he could be. But until there is a KotOR III, there isn't any kind of evidence that it CAN'T be. So it's just as plausible as anything else, which is all I'm saying. Just adding another idea to the pile, as it were. So no, I don't think you're a jerk of course, as I'd entirely expect people to think that a theory doesn't hold up when there is no factual, hard-cut backing to prove it. Talking about how it could be possible or can't be possible is the fun part, I don't care if I'm completely wrong, which I know I most likely am because I too am of the belief that there WILL be a KotOR III.
  2. Not saying it is a fact or anything, just wanted to bring it into speculation, 'cause I believe in some parts it can hold up. Well, it's the Chronicles that state that Revan went there and then vanished. If Kreia knows, I don't recall her telling the Exile of where he went to after Malachor V. Not if they're good developers. To quote someone who made a very controversial series in visual entertainment (and never answered the numerous questions), "There are some things we must discover for ourselves." The fact that it isn't explained is why it's neat... because it leaves people up their own ideas, ask their own questions and discover for themselves what is the right answer in their eyes instead of being handed it on a plate. Nihilus is important just because of him being unexplained... that it opens up so much speculation and discussion. Who talks about the things that we already know the answer for? Anyways. Yeh, that's a problem. Could amount it to the dark side corruption changing his form. Holds about as well as the other theories... in that we'll never truly know if it's right or wrong. Unless of course KotOR III explains it. Although I'm pretty sure if there is a KotOR III, then my theory will be void. The way my theory can work as a valid theory is if KotOR II is the last of the series. As said, if there is a KotOR III then I highly doubt that my theory could still be valid. But I think it's plausible enough to be of consideration if KotOR II is the end of the series. Revan HAD control over himself, yes. Whether or not he still has that willpower, or if the power of the dark side of Malachor V isn't any stronger than it was when he did have control over it, is another issue entirely. And I believe that for the storyline of KotOR III, he will be consumed by the dark side within himself and Malachor V. And that this consumation of him will be the largest, most powerful manifestation of the dark side the galaxy has seen. But that's just my opinion, of course. So, in response to Revan NOT behing Nihilus... it's not certain. Unlikely? Perhaps. But there is, like the rest of the speculation on this stuff, no clear cut 'this doesn't work' answer.
  3. Where is it proven that Revan is still alive when Nihilus is not? I've only played through the game once so far, so that may be something I never chanced upon. To my understanding, Revan went to the unknown regions to fight off the 'true Sith'. Malachor V, I believe is in the outer rim/unknown regions, and the Chronicles state that that is where he went, and that no one knows what happened to him after that. Shortly after he disappears, the whole thing with Kreia, Sion, and Nihilus happens at Trayus Academy. Nihilus seems to be the avatar (physical manifestation of something spiritual) of the dark side, and so the fact that he was spawned at Malachor V and arrives on seen after Revan's vanishing at Malachor V makes me just think that it could possibly be a Revan consumed totally by the dark side of the planet.
  4. Nihilus serves a symbolic purpose... he is meant to arouse questions and wonder. He stands for something. However, I believe he has a lot more background than people think, and that his hype... box art and so on, is as it should be. Personally, I believe that Nihilus is Revan. As I posted in the 'Speculation' thread, the 'True Sith' in my eyes is the pure dark side, the natural will for the end of life and the consumation of others. That is what Nihilus is. Revan went to Malachor V after the Jedi Civil War to fight off the 'True Sith'. An effort to either destroy or resurrect the evil of Malachor V (as said in the Chronicles). Instead of being able to control it this time though, he fell to it.. and it consumed him. This I believe was inside of him, and inside of Malachor V. Malachor V gave birth to Nihilus... gave birth to the 'True Sith'.. the evil within Revan. Revan ceased being the Revan that he was (LS, DS, whatever)... being consumed by the pure dark side, he became the 'True Sith', extending the will of the dark side to consume beyond the borders of Malachor V. Revan lost his humanity, and became just a being of hunger for life energies. With no background in the game, shrouded by a cloak and masked, speaking in a tongue that you can't understand... identifies him as a monster, inhuman.. but makes you wonder... what was he? What species? Gender? What does he look like under that mask? Is he human? It lies him entirely open... and if you think about it as Revan, then he is given far more background in KotOR II than just the parts where you see him, and as important to the story of the KotOR series as the box art and ads point to. Some minor problems with this theory are... for one, Visas identifies him as 'just a man'. This could point away from it being Revan as some Revan's were female... or she could be referring to the term of 'man' as a species identicator.. man as in mankind. A human. Another is that the Exile supposedly follows Revan into the Unknown Regions after the final battle. What if she is merely following in Revan's footsteps? Going into exile to fight off the evil that is encroaching her. The LS ending has Malachor V destroyed... that evil, that desire to feed on life's energies, the 'True Sith' could have manifested itself in the Exile. The DS ending is even simpler.. she stays to draw upon the evil of Malachor V. Just some thoughts o' mine.
  5. *waves because this is self's first post on the forums* Heya. Interesting topic. My take on the 'true Sith'... The 'true Sith' aren't a sentient species or single being or anything like that, I believe. Sith and Jedi, at the purest form of what they are, what the individual codes and ideals stand for, are the two sides of the Force. Light and dark, both are necessary for balance and both need the other, despite the conflict between each other. The Force is a primal balance of life (think Transcendentalism), its will is for balance alone. This is why Kriea hates it... this will strives for balance, and if human life must be sacrificed in the process, it does not matter. It is destiny. Kriea, though hating the Force with a spite, stems her hatred out of the need for protection of life's ability to have free will. The two sides of the Force individually don't believe in balance, of course, both sides 'feel' (instinct, mysticism, nothing conscious) their way is the way things should be, and are out to destroy the other. What the 'true Sith' is is the dark side of the Force in its entirety, the base energy, power, mystic whatever that desires the end of all life. The 'true Jedi' is peace and serenity, no chaos, no death, no suffering just.. simple existance.. life. The Force as a whole must have balance, for life cannot grow and advance without a dark and a light side. Without dark, life would become over-abundant.. without light, nothing could exist. The Chronicles state that Revan, after the Jedi Civil War, travelled to Malachor V, where he vanished. Revan, IMO, has something deep inside him from Malachor V... that he is the 'Chosen One' of the dark side, of the 'true Sith'. As an evil inside of him, then of course he is the only one who can fight it--no one can help him. Of course, his intentions may be for good or evil, but I believe that when he travels to Malachor V after the JCW, (intending to either destroy the evil that remains or to embrace it), he becomes completely consumed by its evil... similar in a way to Nihilus, (hell, Nihilus might even BE Revan). He leaves Malachor V and journeys to the areas beyond the Outer Rim (or so we think... as said, he could have been Nihilus. Chronicles only state that he vanished after going to Malachor V). Multiple theories there are for this--one being that he is not fully consumed by the evil and is trying to hold it back... going into exile so as to protect the galaxy (think like Diablo II... bearing Diablo within in order to contain it). Another reason could be that this evil goes into hiding to bid its strength and strike the galaxy at just the right moment. This evil is of course not human, it isn't Revan... nothing that mundane. It is the raw dark side--the true Sith. It is simply... the will to destroy and consume all life. What Revan goes to fight is the true Sith, contained within him and within Malachor V. And that was a bit long-winded, sorry.
