  1. I have actually gotten to level 8 without experiencing any of these bugs. I never loaded in guilded vale .. No combat in the actual town. Pallegina has a negative DR for me (without armour its at -2) and Kana seems to have double deflection (if I put on a large shield for him his deflection goes up by 32 but a ring of deflection is only by 5) but I just wear the penalty pallegina has and I don't use Kana. I never did the double click bug (you can fix it for your companions by firing and rehiring).

So the bugs are kind of bad for some people, but they dont actually stop you playing the game if you are keen enough.

  2. I really wanted to kill The Vulture. But he's right in the middle of the Goose and Duck, and I can't do anything about this bastard without starting a massacre. :(

BTW I had no idea those were backers. I just thought they were random flavor NPCs. I really liked reading those little character backgrounds so far!

Yeah I quicksaved when I found the vulture. Then I killed everyone in the bar >.> I almost just left it that way.

I personally feel like the writing for the backers isn't really that great. I was also a bit annoyed when I realised I had been reading each and every single one of these stories for no particular reason. A lot of them seem to be someone practicing writing characters you are supposed to find cool.

  3. Yeah it isnt that. I haven't actually double clicked at all. First I knew you could double click to get equipment on was hearing you don't want to do it. I have the defensive portion of it too. Its just the 20% damage doesn't show up or seem to be working. The damage is kind of nuts without it though so I figure I am happy about it. Those druid spells need a wee bit o tuning in my opinion.

  4. Been thinking about this. I am a fan of the 'oldschool' games which inspired so many people to kickstart this (i was busy living under a rock so I was not one of them). I think making wizards per encounter is an interesting idea personally. It would mean totally re balancing the class though. Maybe if Wizards learnt one spell per level and could cast one spell per two levels per encounter it might make them a bit more user friendly and a bit more fun to play.

I am not unhappy with the implementation of wizards in this game. I recently tried playing a gnome illusionist in Baldurs Gate (when I was just a wee lad I always chose beefcake characters) and it was pretty painful. Very painful even. I rolled a druid for my first playthrough of PoE and  have found it to be much more forgiving and fun than a playthrough of BG.

  5. I have yet to notice this act business. I am in defiance bay... so is that act 2 ? I also haven't noticed that the enemies have levels. I did have a bit of a loadathon when I first tried fighting the shades. On the other hand I one shot Raedric without consumables (I am still keeping all of these traps and scrolls and potions in case I ever actually need them ....) and have found there to be little of difficulty since. I even went down into the dungeon and dropped down a rope to fight a drake while I am certain I was too low to be there and one shot that. Aside from shades and incomplete parties the game just doesn't feel hard enough.

  6. I feel the game is fairly easy on hard but I dont think any of my companions have bonus stats. I had Kana gain some stats but I then stopped taking him with me. Here is hoping that if its not just these bugs that make hard too easy that we get patches or mods which up the ante. Path of the damned just seems straight up silly hard from the description.

  7. By the way, I noticed hirelings make you have a net loss of money, since taxes are seemly tied to quest amount, but hirelings are tied to days passed, meaning that if you are a slow player, or rest a lot, or keep getting lost and moving between areas, you will lose lots of money.

Also if you are not completionist, again, lose lots of money.

And finally, even if you ARE completionist, theoretically at the end of the game the hirelings can drain your money forever, but you have no source of income (since you already finished all quests, thus taxes stopped, and nothing respawns, so there are no new enemies to loot and sell their stuff)

At the end of the game the game is over. Not sure how this is relevant

  8. I have the secrets of rime Talent on my druid but it doesn't appear to be working properly. The five extra could DR is working fine. The 20% extra cold damage isn't. Winters wind does base damage of 30-50 (which does feel a little high as a sidenote) and is 38-64 on my character which has 19 might. Since 30-50+27% is more or less 38-64 I am pretty sure that the extra 20% damage isnt being applied. I would be expecting more like 55-95 damage at that point. If it did work as advertised it would probably trivialise the content though. Perhaps the tooltip is just wrong and the extra damage isnt intended, which would be fine except for the fact I wouldn't have chosen it then. The secrets of rime effect doesnt show up in active effects on my character either. A lot of passives don't actually.

I have tested the spell itself to see if the damage is being applied secretly and all I can confirm is that so far with limited testing I am getting the 38-64 bracket on hits. I crit for around 74. The druid cold spells do feel pretty powerful even without secrets of rime, so perhaps the talent should be removed or the cold spells nerfed or something.
