  1. Yeah so far I cant even work out how to respond to a post there. I have done all of the reading already but seen nothing which answers my question. I think I have literally spent at least an hour trying to find this info before making this thread.

Edit: ok I am a bit of an internet failure. I worked out how to make a post there and have done so.

  2.  I cannae get the patch yet (GoG doesn't seem to have the hotfix just the patch which I hear breaks things). Even if I do it seems like the difficulty is borked even if I play on PotD. I've never modded a game which didn't just auto mod itself via steam workshop and I use those mods very sparingly. So anyone have any advice on how to have some fun with Baldurs Gate since I might be waiting either a long time for this game to be fixed (if obsidian ever fixes it?).

I have access to the BG1 and 2 Discs and I could also use my housemates account to play the extended editions. Is there a short answer as to which version of the game I should play and how I should mod it to make it fun ? (I really want something with better AI and more fun difficulty than PoE. I am not some kind of super brain but poe demands nothing from you at all)

  3. If you are buying and playing games to get little icons to light up on your Steam profile...

Well, I have to stop that sentence there or I'll risk a ban.

Why ? there forums are pretty useless and full of trolls. Who gives a **** about bans. I kinda wish they would ban me so I wouldn't be able to play forum anymore. Then I might move on. The games XP curve is totally screwed and so is the AI and we got more people asking for  a higher level cap and caring about achievements than people complaining about the issues which make the game unplayable for anyone who can count their own fingers without saying um. Forum ban ftw I say.

  4. I did a bit of testing on my druid. It took a lot of hits to get above the maximum damage that the tooltip said (and yes I was looking at damage before DR affected it). I did eventually manage it. It seems to me that the maximum and minimum numbers in the tooltips are less likely to occur making it a lot harder to tell if it works. The fact that it doesn't show up in active effects is a but too in my opinion.

  5. Does the game even have spammable s

Yeah I'd really like to switch my game to PotD at this point.  Not really sure why they decided to make it unchangeable during play.  Can anyone confirm IEmod will do the job?

EDIT: Ninja'd!  But sounds like that's what I need!

EDIT2: So tried it and it definitely seems to be helping.  My guys are getting hurt again and I actually have to use tactics, woohoo!

I can't get this to activate in my game.

what did you do to get it to work?

The IE mod does it apparently. I got to check if GoG has the patch and the hotfix yet then try this myself.

It is a console command which allows you to do it. They have a list of them on their web page.

Or you know ... fix the broken xp you get from side content and put the levels further apart.

It can't work when you have people doing very few side quests and others doing every single one before advancing the main plot. Unless you are suggesting to remove all XP rewards from side quests you can't balance the game for every single playstyle. Everybody is playing the game at they own pace.

So remove all xp from side quests if you have to. Anything is better than what we have now.

Edit: it is supposed to be a niche game. It should not be balanced for fkn casuals. Casuals can play on easy or just bloody well **** off.

Eh I play pillars the same way I played BG2. I never had any issue with BG2 devolving into a zero difficulty game.

Keldorn came with a spammable ability that made vanilla BG2 a complete joke.

Got to be honest I did play BG 2 with bugger all knowledge of DnD and no access to the internet. I played it without consumables or spamming any of Keldorns spells. I am not really sure how this is justification of the XP issue in Pillars of Eternity anyhow.

BG/BG2 let you overlevel most of the content even more so, especially if you had the expansion installed. As do most big cRpgs

Not everybody wants to do all the side content in every play through and once you start balancing the crit based on optional content than it ceases to become optional. Sensuki mentioned it, but removing lame ass trap/lock xp would do wonders.

What's really broken here are super engagement deflection tanks being untouchable though.

I disagree regarding BG/BG2. You could not get significantly over leveled because each level cost twice the XP of the one before. The last bossfight was not an auto attack snooze fest in BG2 even if you did do everything. They really ought to very significantly reduce side quest XP in this game. I was level 10 when I got to Dyrford. I could accept being one or two levels too high. Being 5 levels too high is just plain stupid.

I order to prevent this from happening they'd have to force players to follow the main quest at a given pace so they could perfectly control they level progression. Which I wouldn't appreciate... Or introduce mob level scalling mechanics... that I wouldn't appreciate either. That's the price to pay from freedom.

  10.  Gah. Trying to contact someone via twitter really is BS. How and why does anyone use this to communicate. I heard Josh actually replies to people sometime so I thought I would ask if the XP curve has a possible change incoming. Can't even tell if my question got out or it worked or w/e. Any of you more um 'modern' people able to check/ask yourselves or go to Tumblr ? *shivers*

  11. HAHAHAAHAHA The people tweeting about this are as confused about the people in this thread who feel like Obsidian didn't actually remove the original line for the reason they stated. Well its good to know that there are stupid people on every side of the debate. At least now all of the people who think "obsidian caved" have proof that they didn't. Not like they will pay any attention though.

  12. This thread is less fun than that "other thread" everyone is posting in. I am having fun with this forum game but I kind of want to stop being in stupid arguments too. Oh well.

My 2 cents which I am typing in everywhere in the forums is that the XP gain is a bit off. Its too easy to out level stuff. If they fixed this and made the AI a weee bit smarter about not all just doing a dance around your tank in a circle I would be a happy man again.

Ok that last bit was a lie but I would stop complaining about this game at all.

This is what you get when you cave to the first person to loudly disagree with you: You open the floodgates for every moron with an opinion.

How is there an open floodgate ? You do realise Obsidian aren't able to stop people tweeting whatever they like right ?

No Obsidian cant stop people from using twitter

but having complied with demands of one twitter person, now more and more are whining and demanding their share be fulfilled

Its called opening a Pandora's box and I bet Obsidian regrets it now ( or will regret it very soon)

So you think that the original tweet was spurred on by the removal of a  limeric ?  Really ? Like  really?

I have no words for just how stupid this sounds. Also do some research. The limeric issue wasn't about people complying with demands. If you read this thread and paid any attention to the issue you would know otherwise. I'd also really like to know just how you think Obsidian is being negatively effected by this tweet. Seriously. I am betting my mouse hand that they will survive this tweet. They could probably survive DOZENS of tweets.
