  1. The guys at Fable actually tried to decieve its crowd to keep the hype going. Until the bewildered community confronted them after seeing the IGN review, the team was still referring to features that had been cut weeks before. They let 5-10 page threads ramble on about how exciting this feature and that feature would be, even as they knew it wasn't in the game, by adding to the discussion or keeping totally silent about its cut.

  2. less influence crap (it ended up you changing urself, to get their influence)

This for me was the single most frustrating aspect of this game...because influence plays such a huge role in getting your party's storylines fleshed out you had to try to please everyone at the same time..yet you are supposed to be a leader who makes anyone not matter light or dark follow and die for you.

Devs: The "I understand perfectly, Atton, and I sympatize with you (LIE)" option in every dialogue. I restarted the game recently, without the will to continue, but I do remember one thing vividly. A, so not to spoil, you have a conversation which leads to two dialogue options:

    1) I'll check on you later and make sure you're ok.

    2) Get out of my way before I make you a corpse.

Please add a lie option, so I'm not choosing between lawful good and chaotic stupid. It's hard on a ds guy like me who wants to gain influence.

  3. The day I send death threats to a developer, regardless of how upset I am at features being ommitted from a game I am looking forward to, is the day I volunteeringly admit myself to the local psychiatric hospital.  <_<

Ah, I was just kidding. Sorry. :-"

But people that had interacted and made friends with the Q&A squad and devs openly called them liars, making their profits off of deceiving loyal fans. They had... er, let's just say applied inappropriate editing to pictures of Molyneaux. :o

  4. It was mainly Peter M. hyping the game like a wh*re. It's why expectations were so high. For anyone that didn't know the situation was this:

    1) They promised lots and lots of stuff never before seen in an RPG

    2) The game went gold, developer interaction on the board went dead. Everyone assumed they were taking a break and celebrating.

    3) It was reviewed a couple days later, listing alot of the stuff that had been cut. The devs were not upfront with the community, leaving many to believe (after it went gold) that many features were implemented when in fact they weren't. We (the community) had to find out from some depressed reviewer (H. Goldstein, iirc) that all these revolutionary features got cut.

    4) General mayhem ensued. People called Peter M. a liar, death threats ensued from loyal board members that had been there for 4 years. No response even days after the game hit shelves.

I remember vividly the disappointment many felt. It was a dark day in rpgland. :p

  5. They wouldn't, but I doubt Obsidian or Lucas would be willing to do it. But I feel sorry for you guys who have to wait for 2 more months. You invested alot of patience in this, with 80+% of you feeling that patience will be well spent... and then you'll experience the last three hours of the game.

I would say start a petition if I thought it would make any difference.

  6. Hehe, unfortunately after reading the influence guide someone posted on this forum, I was just EXTREMELY unlucky in the end. If you're like me, and picked the wrong characters for the wrong planets, you ended up giving LS responses to gain influence without the possiblility of actually gaining influence. So it is possible (I know because it happened to me) that you will guess incorrectly and miss a significant portion of the game. :geek:

I know, I know, it's my fault. But I put in 52+ hours, and every time I pick up the XBox controller to play it again and see what I missed, I get this sick feeling and lose interest, probably because I know I just invested 52 hours in being DS and didn't get any of the DS experience.

Obsidian: If you do it again, PLEASE give me the "I really like you (lie/persuade)" responses. I hated being forced into unrealistic situations.

  7. Yes, a Director's Cut. But going to that length isn't even necessary! The PC version hasn't been released yet, and I know it's a Hail Mary, but PLEASE Obsidian, delay the pc version until you fix the problems. Forget fixing the minor glitches/framerate issues, just fix the end.

It may be unprecedented for all I know, and totally unrealistic, but you must listen to your conscious! Please Obsidian, don't listen to the marketing goons. :D

  8. since i havent played the game i cant say for sure but i wanna see it back based on what ive heard/read.  but i want changes done to it.  so that there are ways around taking ds points to influence like hk or someone if im ls.

This was the impossible part for me. I played DS consular, and sacraficed DS for gaining influence, thinking it would be meaningful. In the end, I didn't get the benefits of either the party story depth or the advantages of being extreme DS like

prestige class or entering the cave.

  9. For people that finished the game, how many liked the Influence system?

I liked it and didn't. It makes sense from a real-life perspective, people won't open up to you unless you befriend them. It gives a feel of realism.

But when I finished the game I found most people wouldn't talk to me because I hadn't gained enough influence. Rand never told me his story, I went through the entire game with the "pazaak" dialogue options because I apparently missed the points with him where you could gain influence. I couldn't beat Handmaided more than twice, I was a consular, without using tactics that would ruin the experience for me, so I went nowhere fast with her. The only people I really gained influence with were Kreia, Visas, and T3, only because they were most often in my party.

I felt like I missed some of the KOTOR experience, like Canderous' cool stories or Jolee's senile banter. I know it was my responsibility to gain experience, but in the end I just felt more left out than I did in KOTOR. And it didn't seem to have any effect on the end, I was expecting somebody that I hated (like GOTO) to abandon me before the end.

I really don't want it back in KOTOR3, unless it's optional.

  10. I wonder this also. How in the heck to do make party members Jedi? I talked to Bao-Dur and even used him on a couple planets, to the point where all my dialogue options were exhausted ("never mind" was my only option). I went through the game trying to gain influence, rarely succeeding. Do you have to be extremely to one side of the force, or a prestige class, to make your party members Jedi?

  11. I can only suggest one last thing. Run around. The AI pathfinding system (at least for teammates) is awful. There's a good chance if you catch him on a corner, it may give you time to heal. I can't think of anything else.

Oh yeah, keep in mind that in conversations (I experienced this) you heal hp and fp.

  12. Vrook is the hardest boss in the game. He auto saves against every force power, and can repeatedly heal himself. He also seemed to have the ability to do 100 points of damage per round with his saber. I would suggest using any battle stims you have, since you are presumably a fighter class. Force speed helps to run away, if necessary. I would try hit-and-run were I you. With my consular, I made him eat lightning until he died while I pumped healing packs.

  13. On Nar Shadda when you have to rotate the lock to open it whats the proper procedure (w00t)

Oh god, this was a while back. The strategy was simple for me (iirc), rotate the letter/number that's supposed to be in the upper left-hand corner to it's proper place, then figure out the rest. It think it was something like two turns clockwise and one counter, or something. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

If you can type out the letters/numbers for me I can tell you.
