    I just wanted to add an additional example of how a rpg-soundtrack can sound. It is the soundtrack of the "Realms of Arkania - Star trail" game from 1994. I really like it because of its variety of sounds and moods, it´s very memorable and quite different from the standard-rpg-themes IMO. It also stands out because of a more prominent use of percussions which adds a nice "drive" to it.
