    Is my country the only one with condoms, pill, morning after pill and Sperm Banks?

     

    Do you people reproduce asexually? Because unless you're spliced with frog DNA, people have to have sex to reproduce unless they pay large amounts of money to use high technology--which isn't available to everybody for obvious reasons. The vast majority of human beings are the product of sexual intercourse, man.

     

     

    And yet not all sexual intercourse ends in pregnancy, in fact I dare say MOST sexual intercourse going around all over the world doesn't end in pregnancy.

     

    So no, saying "I saw their birthrates so I know how much they hump each other" is an infantile facetious statement.

     

     

    They really don't have as much sex as the average westerner.

    Hehe I've never played that game, never going to play that game lol.

     

    That said, you got me curious on what the actual rape rate was in Japan, because it seems like they have a higher acceptance of rape in their media than we American do.

     

    Interestingly enough, the rape rate in Japan is 1 per every 100K people, while in the US, it's 27.3 for every 100K people.

     

    So despite having much more rape portrayed in their media, Japan has 27 times less rapes than the US does.  Strike one against rape culture theory I guess lol.

     

     

    You are comparing a society where pretty much any kind of fetish we know, and a lot we do not, is legalized and can be purchased for the propper prize, and another where even talking about Regulating Prostitution creates uproar in some States...from BOTH sides of the political spectrum...

     

    Next time try not to compare sex statistics to a country descended from Puritan Fundamentalists, please...

    If Japanese games are horrible how would you classify the hipster pretentious turds we see on the indie market?

     

     

     

    Why? Why should that possibly be a thing? I have never heard one single legitimate reason that my representation of ones and zero's shouldn't destroy that representation of ones and zeroes, particularly not because the program interprets that collection of ones and zeroes in some way that it visually resembles a human child. That makes no ****ing sense.

     

     

    Because it's ageist? I dunno it's late in this side of the world

    I don't think that we should be citing single instances of bad romance representations as reasons to never do it again in any scenario. I actually really liked the romance in Mass Effect (no, not the sex scenes, I mean the actual growing of relationships between characters.Some romantic, some not) and in Knights of the Old Republic. Those kinds of interactions really do deepen the roleplaying aspect of the game, and for many, they add a sense of urgency to the story.

     

    I feel more connected to that "special someone" and genuinely want them to survive. That doesn't necessitate sex in any way or any kind of campy storyline. Someone said at the beginning that it's fine as long as it isn't required to get the best story experience out of the game, I agree 100% with that notion. 

     

    I just don't understand how something that is, and should be completely optional ruffles some people's skirts so much (pun very much intended.) It reminds me of the criticism EQ2 had because you could play as a humanoid rat. To this notion, I offer the same retort, just opt out of it. I think enough people like romance that it could be included in a way that doesn't require it as a game or story mechanic.

     

    Maybe it's because I'm a homo, but those are things that really brighten the gameplay for me. :/

     

     

    TBH I would not be able to recognize "Good Romance" from "Bad Romance" because to me all of the romances in these games are offensively simplistic...I have so many Celibate Characters that one day they'll build a monastery and mock me with the name.

     

    But hey, dunno, maybe I'm the one with the problem here, I just feel that most game devs don't really get human interaction at that level, which on the other hand is a cliche in itself I would not indulge in, or that I should see them as One night stands and that's it.

     

    I understand that people ask for them as optional, but even then they'll either do it half assedly like in NWN2 or they'll put effort into it like, well, nobody has to this point, and then it will be taking resources from improving other areas. The way I see it at least.

    I thought about Pillars of Eternity.
     
    Just imagine a hypothetical Eternity with this new engine.
    Looks perfect.
    Clearly, the gameplay remains the same, pause tactic, etc.
     
    But the graphics, could be revolutionary.
    Try to think of the implications that could be created.
     
    It would not be the first time that the boys of Obsidian, take "borrow" a graphics engine.
     
    what do you all think?

     

     

    May be wrong in this but didn't Obsidian chose Unity so they could swap assets with inXile and stuff?

    Am i the only one finding it funny that 8chan seems to have less drama about this compared to KiA?

    Wasn't the 8chan threads like, hijacked by ****posters (I mean, worse ones) like a couple of days ago or something?

     

     

     

     

     

    Here's something I didn't mention yet.

     

    So I PMed the mod to get Firedorn's snippet added to the megathread right? Chill mod, quick to respond, thanked me, no problem.

     

    The members started just downvoting me for presenting that evidence, or saying that it doesn't matter because blah blah blah. I was getting -2 on comment karma before I even refreshed the page. Eventually one of them even blatantly says "ur lying and being deceitful about how you present the info so I'm downvoting u everywhere cuz u deserve it." I took that post and linked it to the mod just kinda curious and asked "is this allowed?" I actually HATE reporting people and would rather settle issues myself, but these guys bothered me cause...had I been new to gamergate, they would've scared me off ASAP. The mod said I'd need to contact an admin to get anything done and unfortunately he can't do anything about the downvotes, to which I said no biggie and I was just surprised with the attitude from the redditors.

     

    He responded with "that's what happens when subreddits reach a certain size. People turn it into a blind circlejerk. Seen it happen before, it'll happen to this subreddit too."

     

    It was actually kinda depressing to hear him say that so matter of factly. I'll probably ask him how he can just stand it and not get depressed watching it happen, next time he's on.

     

     

    He is already unfeeling, to him this is just another day, he is not human anymore, just a machine, dealing with this, dreaming with this, breathing this...

     

    Sometimes during the night hours he still sees the eco chambers around, he hears them WK and Trolls fighting in the background for "strong independent damsels who no need no men"...

     

    Until one day, one day he will snap, he doesn't know if he is going to point the blaze at him or at others, he only knows he'll pull the trigger...

    Romance in PoE Thread Rules

     

    - This thread is for people who wish to actually discuss the roleplaying merits of romances (or lack thereof) in regards to Pillars of Eternity. You can lament or celebrate that they are not included, argue why the game would have been better or worse, give examples from games that did it well or did it poorly, talk about modding efforts to add it in, or discuss how it might be included in future expansions or installments and anything related to those subjects, etc.

     

    - Anyone posting simply to make fun of or abuse people who like or dislike romance or to point out how often this topic has been done before will find their posts deleted. If the thread goes off-topic or gets very hostile, it will get pruned.

     

    - Other romance threads will either be deleted or merged into this one.

    Gods I'm glad there is none, nor that it would have mattered since I create my parties but after being forced with the bloody pedo Elven hobo in NWN2 I really think we dodged a bullet here.

     

    And besides "dialogue minigame" with "****scene at the end"...well you said we shouldn't say anything about people who like it so I'll leave at that...tbh I don't thinkl any game can really do that kind of relationships right, not even eroges.

    And trying to manage a party of 6 in real-time combat is patently absurd - even at slow speed. <More **** I agree with>

     

    The game is Real Time with Pause, meaning you are supposed to pause every X number of actions and select the orders, doing some micromanagement.

     

    About the rest of the post, I agree with most of it so no issues there. You get used to the Magic and skills system, but it is obscure as ****, at least to me...completely unintuitive compared to AD&D or 3.5e (Which is what I played back in the day)...

    I don't know if the tweet in the OP was real, but if it was, SJW's would not care about it.  "Save the children" is a conservative argument, and no one in gaming gives a crap about them ;).

     

    SJWs care about women, marginalized groups, and identity politics.  Not violence, you're getting your authoritarians mixed up ;).

    Depends, if they have still Health (the bar beside the character portrait) then they do themselves, if they don't have health, well, that character is dead. Forever.

     

    Health is spent primarly recovering your endurance after fights, although I believe some enemy AoE spells can kill your unconscious characters.

     

    You restore health by resting.
