  1. From beta to release to the most recent patch (1.04 as of writing) PoE remains unplayable on my gaming PC due to menu and audio delay problems. It takes several seconds to navigate menus such as the inventory, levelup screen, character creation, and character audio playback takes several seconds to kick in. I've just been playing on my old laptop instead which is fine but I'd like to be able to play on my gaming desktop at some point.

Clearly there's some kind of incompatibility somewhere, or optimization problem with my particular PC setup. I thought regular patches would fix it but if anyone has any ideas on where to look I'd appreciate it. I read somewhere that Hamachi causes slowdown problems but I looked and I've uninstalled that ages ago, and no driver or trace of it seems to be remaining. Thoughts? Ideas?

    Hamachi

Did you remove the virtual devices that hamachi create?

    Did you read this?:

I was not playing the beta patch 1.04 beta when it happened.

However after it occurred I deleted my game instance out of frustration and started a new instance with the beta patch initiated on Steam.

I wish I had known how to upload the issue earlier, but I have just rerolled a new character and I will be watching to see if the bug occurs again.

Lol :D that was  the gul bug, thanks to you the oficial 1.04 patch was not released today :D

  3. CPU overclock make my pc reset, with others games have no problems, this happening because the game use a lot of CPU power, more than the others games, that's why the computer reset.

I disable the overclock and problem was gone.

    Why this thing happen?

Most time is because people is not aware that some games use more resource than others, lets say i have a power supply that usually playing games is used only the 70%, now play a game that is trying to max out the use of the power supply= reset and instability, that's the result.

Want to know if you system is working fine at max use?

    Stress the system with:

    OCCT 4.4.1

    You will have your answer.

  4. Personally, I would be happier with VO for most quest NPCs. It isn't needed everywhere, but I would prefer everything main-plot related and big side quests to have VO.

People saying fan-made VO is always bad...Mostly, I agree, but there are some decent ones, especially for New Vegas(I'm thinking Bounties) and Skyrim. Take the Interesting NPCs mod for Skyrim; some of the NPCs from that are almost indistinguishable from the professional VOs imo.

Right, I'm popping along to Essex to round up some actors to VO the whole game ok?(only fellow Brits will know how...interesting that would be ;) )

Some voices on quest npcs sounds good.

  5.

I have done everything I can to get my GOG download of PoE to work.  The game just will not start.  This has become too frustrating for words.  I have already posted on this site with all of the requested documentation, but have had no responses.

The problem is as follows:  I get to the start up screen, I try to press New Game, I am taken to a screen that tells me there are no saved games.  I am given no other options.  Period.  The End.  I do have a saved games folder installed, but there are no saved games in it; as I have never played the game.

I have not downloaded the 1.03 patch yet; but don't see much point since the original game is not even working.

What I really would like to know is this.  This version of the game is my Silver Backer version that I downloaded from GOG.  Is it possible to somehow send it back and try to get the Steam version?

Please will someone from Obsidian answer me?

If you do not have a 64bit OS like Win7 and Win8 that is part of your problem.

If you took shortcuts when building or buying your PC and purchased AMD or are using 4 generation old hardware this is part of your problem.

You didn't pick the BEST digital content provider, this is part of your problem too.

See the lack of sympathy?  Crashes are your issue and your own fault, the PC race is vast and one should always make an effort to game on the same hardware the game was built on:

    i7 4xxx or 5xxx series

    nvidia 7xx - 9xx series

    8+gb RAM

    Solid State Hard Drives

The above system is the NORM, get with it or expect crashes; plain and simple.

I have a AMD system and the game run perfect.

  6. I'll be quick.... had to start over because of all the pre-1.0.3 bugs. I don't have a ton of time these days to game but I'm really super enjoying PoE. But, I don't have time to start over yet again because of system breaking bugs.

Can I "safely" play this game now? Or should I wait for another patch? I don't mind little bugs and things but bugs that break the game systems are too much for me.

    Thanks for the advice!

    So far so good,

    Mayor bugs are gone.
