  1. I've always prefered the PC .. I find a mouse and keyboard easier to handle and gives more freedom imo.. especially in RPG games and FPS, but I prefer a controller for fightgames which I never play on PC .. the graphics isn't the issue for me, but I prefer a higher resolution!

  2. no it's simply the end of their calendar .. a conjunction in which the winter solstice sun reaches the Galactic Equator and the ecliptic, what the ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree .. and it starts over.. that's how I understood it at least! I never heard anything or anyone saying that it was a sign of the end of the world

  3. It took me about 40 hours on my first playthrough .. didn't play pazaak or swoop racing .. but admired the enviroment alot and spend alot of time in dialouge with everyone I could get near! completed every sidequest I could get near .. except for some of my NPC's quets, didn't use all of them ..

  4. it is of course well known that careless talk, cost lives .. so maybe the PC said "I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle" and a freak wormhole opened up in the fabric of the space time continuum, and carried his words far far back in time, across almost infinite reaches of space, to a distant galaxy where strange and warlike beings were on the brink of frightful interstellar battle! The two opposing leaders were meeting for the last time and a dreadful silence fell across the conference table as the leader of the Vlahourd, resplendent in his black jewelled battle shorts, glazed levity at the Gergontan leader, and challenged the vile creature to take back what he had said about his mother! The creature stirred in his sickly fuming vapour, and at that very moment the words "I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle" drifted across the conference table.. Unfortunately in the Vlahourd tongue this was the most dreadful insult imaginable! and there was nothing for it, but to wage terrible war!

Eventually of course it was realized that the whole thing had been a ghastly mistake, so the two opposing battle fleets settled their few remaning differences, in order to launch a joint attack on the PC's galaxy.. now positively identified as the source of the offending remark!

for many years the fleet tore across the empty waste of space, and finally dived screaming onto the planet Korriban .. where, due to a terrible miscalculation of scale, the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog!

    that's why the Sith don't like you .. I think ..

    ps.

an homage to "The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy"

  5. Unsatisfying ending: Rome: Total War. Fun game, lame ending.

funny I was gonna say the same thing .. good game, really short and bad ending! but then again, most strategy games aren't known for their great endings! although there are a few!

I liked both endings in KOTOR .. especially DS, the music was perfect and when the SW end music came you felt ready to take your new fleet out and conquer the galaxy!

and the LS ending was a classical! with a closeup on all the characters and Zaalbars "grrrooarh" .. a little cliche perhaps, but it worked for me!

  6. Well that's the main reason why writers today are limited by Lucas Licansing

Actually from what I've seen, Lucas Licensing doesn't have a very strict policy. Over the last few novels, there's been some very stupid and very lame story ideas, yet those were allowed to happen.

I sometimes wonder if the people at the top (ie. those in charge of what is allowed and what isn't allowed in the novels) are actually fans of Star Wars in the sense that they actually "get" it. Or whether they're just people who look at it from a business sense and have no clue what makes Star Wars what it is.

yes that's the tendency I have observed as well .. and it's really a shame! because even though EU has it's very weak moments imo, it's not to late to turn the tide .. focus on story instead of power!

you should think they've all turned to the DS!?

  7. this is all my opinion:

my main problem is the fact that the next guy will probably be 10xExar Kun .. and that he can destroy galaxies with his newly acquired Sith Magic .. I mean, when will it stop? this neverending cycle of bigger, badder and stronger complex! I would've loved Exars story if he had been a little more down to Earth .. relied on smarts and tatics instead of subGod powers! and the next guy that comes along will probably be even stronger ..

the problem with EU is not the characters or the power or force or what ever, I can even accept Exar if he would be the strongest ever (and I mean EVER).. it's the fact that the new writers wants a piece of their own powerful warlords! they want their own legacy instead of solid stories .. and in the end they only hurt the established stories and ends up making a mockery of SW!

  8. and strip Exar of all his enhancing amulets and trinkets and he would not be so powerful! you have to take that into account as well ..

Right but even without them Exar still has his magic and powerful spells. They're only enhancing his power, they aren't source of his power.

absolutely .. but as I said not so powerful! he was quite formidable in his stories I will give you no arguments over that! but he did "cheat" a little with all the stuff he hauled to him! o:)

if you strip him of everything, his spells and amulets etc etc. he was still powerful .. but not 10000xJedi powerful ..

  9. in all fairness it would've taken quite a few Jedis to kill The Emperor as well .. only thousands didn't exsist at the time .. plus Exar was well prepared for the attack! Palpatine was not ..

edit: and strip Exar of all his enhancing amulets and trinkets and he would not be so powerful! you have to take that into account as well ..
