  1. I dunno. Did you think that playing as a character with massive horns or protruding bits or whose head is on fire, like literally burning constantly, like you're a human torch dude wow, would allow you to choose the option to disguise yourself with a cloth hood? You're a distrusted and feared racial minority. Of course that's going to come with consequences. Sometimes that's going to come in handy (ie fire godlike can set stuff on fire without having to use up a torch) and sometimes it's going to make things harder. That's the joy of role playing and making choices - it means that some paths are going to close down and others will open up and as a result you'll have different experiences to other players.

  2. Iirc from an earlier thread opening the console and changing the zoom parameters does not. It's only if you enable other commands by typing iroll20s that you disable achievements (only for that playthrough though).

I'll try to dig up the dev post and link it here.

  3. It seemed from the boards that DEX was not very useful in most situations due to short fight length.  Does that make duel wielding pointless in a way?

Well I haven't run the numbers on it but I would disagree. Between duel wielding itself, the bonus you get from taking duel wield style and the bonus from high dexterity you can significantly increase the speed of your attacks.

Cypher sounds fun, but if I am using skills/spells, would i have tiome to hack and slash?

As a cypher you need to hack and slash (or shoot) because you build up a mana-like resource (called focus) that powers your spells from physical attacks.

They only thing to keep in mind with a duel wielding melee cypher is that you will be pretty squishy so it's worth sending in your cypher after you lock down the battlefield with tank-ier characters.

  4. You don't have to take the chanter's summon invocations if you don't want to. There's only about six of them in total and at every level there are many other invocations you can take instead. Paladins can tank and buff at the same time - once you switch on an aura it just keeps going for the rest of combat and your paladin is free to do other stuff. Having said that paladins don't have the variety of buffs that chanters and priests do so they're probably not ideal for you. You can always put a priest in the second rank with a pike if you want to and, for the most part, if you're close enough to heal, you're close enough to buff.

Edit: More detail added and spelling fixed.

  5. There's a manual in Steam (link is in the right pane) but it's a little outdated at this stage due to last minute tinkering (errata here: http://eternity.obsidian.net/game/manual-errata). There is a brief rundown on the characters in char gen and there are tutorial pop ups throughout the game that you can enable but I'm not sure to what extent the latter will deal with classes.

Edit: oh and Sensuki made a detailed video that intros the classes:

He also made a couple of other videos detailing mechanics as well. You'll find them if you check his channel.
