  1. NO! nonononono! not subdued! nooooooh! Why can't it be vibrant?! Why would you ever choose "subdued" over beaitiful and colourful? Have you seen nature? Nature is not subdued! Have you seen the first environment screen and the concept art? It's colorful and quite beautiful, but not unrealistically so. They are going for a more mature and naturalistic approach rather than the overly stylized and cartoony look that so many modern RPGs embrace. As another user said; it's similar to The Witcher 2's art, in that it embraces a full color palette, but retains a sense of realism, unlike say, Kingdoms of Amalur or WoW. So far the game looks gorgeous.
  2. Can't wait to see more of the environmental artwork, and to see them in motion! I'm very pleased that the art team seems to have embraced a full color palette, rather than the drab monochromatic games that embrace brown and grey in an attempt to look 'realistic'. It was one of the things I loved about the Witcher 2, and Baldur's Gate 2 for that matter. While I'm pleased to see that prerendered backgrounds are making a comeback (and they look gorgeous), I have but one concern; can we expect to see multiple camera angles in certain spots, since you are using fully 3D polygon character models (to my knowledge)? It would be neat, for instance, if you incorporated those still-frame environmental puzzles as shown, but instead of switching to a sketch that represents it (like in days of yore), you simply switch to a lower, and more dramatic camera angle. Also, it would be nice to have screens that show the sky. I know it sounds really nitpicky, but one of my few complaints with the IE games was that you never got to see the sky apart from cutscenes:( In any case, this looks great, and I can't wait to see the next update!
  3. I'm really digging the art direction for PE. So many fantasy themed games today look too kiddy or cartoony for my tastes. This strikes a good balance between the fantastical and the naturalistic methinks. The first screenshot alone made me want to play! I'm an artist myself (recently graduated), and I've always wanted to help in the creation of games (the artistic side, that is). How does an artist get into the industry? Many of the developer sites I've been to (including Obsidian's) want artists to have a minimum of 4 years experience in the industry. Are there good starting positions for artists that don't have high qualification requirements? How did you get your foot in the door, Rob? Anyways, the game looks fantastic so far and I can't wait to get my hands on it! Congratulations on surpassing the Kickstarter goal btw!
