  1. Meh. It was a lot more novel, hardly much interactive. Even then, I didn't participate in the court case. I would assume however it would be set up so that I would. Also, since I was clicking a lot to get through the dialogue, I accidentally clicked an option twice without reading it. Considering there was only about 3 or 4 times you could click an option...

  2.

Youtube is currently blocked where I am now, but if I am correct, you must be linking to the one of the most memorable gaming cut-scenes ever created, featuring Sephiroth and Aerith. For me it was shock, because that lady was really among my favourite characters in FF7... Not again I was able to be affected so much by a single plot-twist in an entertainment media...

2nd closest was the ending of FFX. I must confess it was partially expected, but it made me so sad, that it brought tears to my eyes...

To bad not many games nor movies in last few years can make such a deep emotional impact...

Yea, it was. FFX's story and cutscene's were also really good. My only beef with it, was it was in the annoying period of JRPGs with the whole kid trying to find a parent as the storyline. Dark Cloud 2's was really annoying with him trying to find his mother. Still didn't stop me from loving everything else about the game though.

  3. I actually thought this was weird. This is happening in the city closet to where I live, and my neighboring municipality.

Georgian Bluffs mayor says municipality not prepared to discuss boundary adjustments with city.

    Background quote:

Barfoot said users on the city's water system in Georgian Bluffs already pay double the water rates, and he understands that. They also have to pay connection fees and any extensions if they are required.

What I think is weird about it is this:

Haswell said the days of just charging residents from outside the city more for its services are over.

What's weird to me is the outragous fees the city charges for water. It's why I didn't want to buy a house in the city. The water fees are basically just another tax grab. For instance, my buddy Joe (who lives in the city) used up just over $3 worth of water. His total bill came out to just over $88. The average bill is about double that. This is Georgian Bay water. They don't need to truck it in, or dig wells. It's right there.

Owen Sound has usually been very passive about its city hall. If I remember correctly, the turnout for the first municipal election there that I could vote in was around 17%. It was a lot higher when firemedics was almost brought in 8 or so years ago. The current mayor won the last election by a handful of votes. She's been the most useless twit yet as a mayor, and we had one that took out all of our rail lines, including a bridge that many of us used to walk across the Sydenham river. Okay, she's useless, that one was harmful. Want an appearance for your charity event from someone from city hall? Isn't "their" charity? Good luck. That being said, there is actually an organization going around trying to replace everyone in there.

  4. Of all the mid-game cutscenes in games I've ever played in my lifetime, this is the first one that popped into my head, and stayed in my head.

It's just the most memorable one for me. I like say, the cut scenes in Dust: An Elysian Tale better because they made me laugh, but I really only remember the tone of them and some brief contexts. About 15 years later since I first played FF7, and probably about 10 years since I've really played it last: That's what really stuck with me. Also, the Nibelheim mako reactor cutscenes..

  5. Cradle

First-person adventure/exploration game with RPG elements in a (sorry) fantasy world

Uses Cryengine, which may be the new Unity, and shows some basic elements of one of the five regions planned

I would imagine it cost a lot more for commercial releases than Unity. Looking on their site, They've got a royalty-only license available that takes 20% of revenues, or another non-specific with regards to price license available (and AAA.) It would probably be a better fit for FP's, but I can't see how it would be a better fit for say, a top-down, single screen or isometric RPG or adventure.

Another piece of news. Candy Crush guys turning into Bethesda.

Bethesda? Mere amateurs. That's more like Tim Langdell of Edge fame.

There have been games out before with Candy in the title. Not many, but a few. Considering that game is apparently just Bejeweled, but with candy instead - They should shut the heck up and enjoy those revenues while they last.

Saga is the most ridiculous piece of horse poop ever. There are litterally hundreds of games already out with "Saga" in the title. Square Enix has an entire series of games named Saga, or SaGa. (Unlimited Saga used a small 'g')

King.com should replace EA for this years video game representative for Worst Company. Then Jerry "The King" Lawler should sue King.com for everything they have, because everyone knows Jerry is the King (dot com.)

  7. The Wii was great because it had casual, atypical gamer appeal.

The thing is, I don't think you can market to them the same as the traditional gaming community. Many of them are still okay with their Wii, and don't see a reason to buy the Wii-U.

I think that is exactly it. For many of my aunts and uncles, it was the first console they bought since their kids were kids. It was the first console my sister bought. It was the one our girlfriends wanted to play. They've also basically replaced it with their tablets and smart phones, and those don't take up their TV's so they can also have some show or sporting event on there as well while they play.

  8. I use Steam offline, truly offline, as in no ethernet cable hooked up to my laptop and I'm nowhere near a wifi hotspot so unless someone is beaming me data ninja style through some kind of secret hush hush connection there's no way I'm connected to the internet, regularly and have no problems.  I used to have problems with offline mode, namely I wouldn't be able to connect to Steam in offline mode if I didn't previously switch to offline mode while I still has access to the internet (which was retarded), but Valve fixed that something like 2 years ago and it's been smooth sailing for me ever since.  Sucks it doesn't work this well for everyone.

It probably then depends on what bug or bugs you get hit with then initially. Who knows, they just need to overhaul it.

  9. Wait, The Walking Dead games are laden with QTEs?  Crap.  I had no interest in playing them anyway (because **** zombies), but I figure this means that The Wolf Among Us, which I am interested in, or was, is laden with QTEs too.  There's a good chance that if and when they ever make another Sam & Max game they'll also load it up with QTEs. *sigh*  I was hoping they were just straight point n clicks like what Telltale made before.

There's 2 QTE fights and 1 QTE chase in Wolf ep.1. They're definitely more forgiving than other games out there.

  10. It's probably an unfortunate necessity. I find it hard to imagine unless something drastic happens and all of a sudden the demand for it goes way up that EA's going to release another updated physical package for it.

At the very least, it saved me about 1/6th of my monthly limit here. Plus the 1 month subscription, 500 cartel coins and preferred status after the subscription was well worth the $15 I paid for it.

  11.

Pretty dissapointed with them. And they started out so well..

Those CSI games were the epitome of videogames?

(Even though I didn't originally post that) In a long era lacking of good detective/cop games, I think those CSI games are fantastic. And Sam & Max.

  12. It sounds like your issue is as much to do with digital as opposed to just Steam?

I'm not sure if I'd agree that "it's unnecessary" to be digital for a lot of these games.

There are lots of places I can access the internet from. Home isn't one of them. Origin, Uplay and perhaps Desura's client (I've never used their actual client so I can't say for certain on that one) doesn't lose login info like what Steam does. They seem to use a purer offline mode, whereas Steam tries to simulate being online with its offline mode. Essentially you must always be online to play a game on Steam, even if it's a simulated online. I would not be at all surprised that the reason why many of those who keep Steam in offline mode, but keep their computer hooked up to the internet anyways and don't have any problems with it is that it turns out Steam calls home in the background every once in a while, like an update check so that's how they keep their info. That's just speculation on my part.

Under normal circumstances when I have my computer at home, it is a pain in the butt to bring it into town and hook it up to install something. I hate doing it, but with games that use Origin or Uplay's DRM, I don't mind so much, because it is a one-and-done type deal. It's on my computer and it will always run at home. DRM-free is perfect, because I can just put it on a flash drive, install it at home and back it up onto disc. Steam on the other hand requires me to constantly bring my computer into town to play the games I own, which I can only do for a short period of time until it loses my info and doesn't let me play them until I bring my computer back in and log in.

If 3rd party companies insist on adding DRM to their games, the least they can do is put them across the different clients and use the respective DRM's associated with the clients rather than tie it into one, and if you happen to buy it on another, require us to log into 2 different clients at the same time. In the case of New Vegas, I would have happily bought it again on Uplay (and kept it) if it meant I was using that DRM client instead of Steam's. I could have finally been able to play it with my mods whenever I wanted to. Bethesda has no vested interest in a particular client. They haven't shelled out millions of dollars in a BethPlay client or are a business partner in Steam. If Valve closed down tomorrow, they could replace Steam CEG with another form or forms of DRM and have it back up and running as soon as it takes them to do it and get the legal stuff out of the way (assuming agreements with marketplaces are in place, or adding in the time it takes to negotiate those.)

Hopefully Valve just hurries up and gets a real offline mode so I can like them again and quit with the bitching.

  13. There's no such thing as a bad Terminator in my opinion. It's just that some are a fair bit better than others. Kinda like Die Hard. I'd watch Die Hard 2 & 5 over a lot of other movies, but 1, 3 & 4 were better than those two.

I kinda wish they would finish the Salvation series though. Let us know how the war ended.

  14. I've always waited for the full seasons of Telltale games to come out before I bought them. Then I kind of made the mistake of playing episode 1 of Wolf. I bought the season pass and I hate having to wait for them. Probably because Fables is so new to me as opposed to the other ones I've played is the reason for my impatience. I couldn't care less about Season 2 of Walking Dead right now, but I will happily wait until that one is finished before I get it. It also doesn't help that I'm zombied-out right now. Zombies are my current vampires v. werewolves.

  15. Right now, Double Fine doesn't appear to be releasing Broken Age Act 1 DRM-free, just the full game. That's just stupid. I get the beta being Steam-only, not Act 1 itself however. It's not even like they have a license for the game telling them they have to throw DRM in it. They should do it the same way as Broken Sword.

I wish companies wouldn't just release crap on Steam only. It's unnecessary. Of course, they all are from big cities with abundant cheap high speed, so they can't wrap their heads around anywhere that doesn't have that, and what a pain in the butt Steam is because of that for a bunch of us. But hey; ef us. We're the minority.
