You can eat food by picking it up and then double dropping it on the model of the character in the inventory screen.

If the game were BG3 I would pay 100$. If it were IWD3 I would pay 60$. As it is, I have already spent 250$ on this particular game. In conclusion, if the game works as advertised on release, sure, I would pay 50$.

My party will kill EVERYONE! MOHAHAHAHA!

MIGHT is not strength.
Well, to be fair, "might" can literally mean "physical strength" and superficially it does seem to replace the IE stat "strength", however in the context of the game they probably want it to mean "power or ability to do or accomplish". But simplifying it down to "damage modifier" could be accomplished as well.

I don't know. I prefer the old AD&D 1-25 stat system. You make the character and the stats should define him. Makes sense to me. If you have "20" in might and it is defined as how much damage you do it becomes meaningless. Might as well ask for 25% more stat points. Really, why not rename it damage modifier?

I have a better idea! Lets port it to DOS! Just think! 8 colours! KILObytes of RAM! It would be the talk of the town! Of course after the fact port wouldn't work. You see, DOS can't support any of the art, engine or sound, let alone the interface. So let's keep in mind that we port the game on DOS while it's being developed! SO it can be released at the same time! Brilliant, no?

I feel that maimed injuries should be something permanent. Like for example, lose an eye. You could perhaps replace it through dark rituals, making it even better, or perhaps you can only gain wisdom after losing your eye or such, like Odinn.

In the IE games I would always play as a Lawful Evil Human, so if PoE has no alignment system I will just play plain old human I suppose. Possibly with a lawful evil background?

Why not D&D 5?
Is it out? Is it good? Haven't checked it out.
But the classic AD&D books have got a certain feel to them. They actually seem arcane and mysterious.

I'm not going to beta test any games, so I will play them in order of publication.
After playing DA:O, not DA2, I wouldn't touch DA:I with a 10 foot stick.

Perhaps only being able to carry and wear one armor and one shield at a time. It is realistic enough. You don't go around carrying around a bunch of plate mails, EVEN if you could and were strong enough.

Bioware is dead. It died when it was sold to EA. I think it is much more accurate to call DO:I an EA game. Let that sink in. Would you buy an RPG from EA?

I just bought the reprint of AD&D first edition and I was wondering if anybody could tell me how it plays. Do you think I could set a up a group in this day and age to play this very interesting system? Or should I rather try out second edition?

Lord of Light by Robert Zelazny
I have been reading a top 100 sci fi book list and this one stands out.

After playing age of decadence, I note that a nonviolent play-through is short as short can be, Indeed in that game you are discouraged to start a fight. My point is however that monsters are and have been a way to artificially lengthen a game, if PoE is indeed about the same size as BG map-wise, it will be a third of the game playtime-wise if you are a 100% nonviolent character.

All I can say is that it was tried in NWN and I did not appreciate it.

Look, my adventurers aren't in this for your revolution, and they're not in it for you, Princess. They expect to be well paid. They're in it for the money.
Perhaps multiple endings, á la fallout, depending on how much money and land you managed to hoard for your retirement might be a possible solution?
But yes, I cannot stress how much I do not want a "loot all" button hoarding every piece of junk and selling it to the local merchant. An endless list of items I will never look at like Kotor, mass effect, dragon age or any console game really is not my idea of fun at all. Inventory limitations are sometimes good.

If obsidian really wants an mmo then they can try to kickstart it. Let's see how many peeps will pay for another mmo.

Let me see if I can make it clearer. You use negative and slandering wording to try to validate your opinion. Its a last resort of a person with no facts. In no way is being able to respec a character a "handicap" mechanic. If anything is a "preference" mechanic. And you can talk all the trash in the world but it won't make your opinion any more valid, or in this case, true.
Okay, let's call it a "preference" mechanic. It is none the less a handicap to the playability of the game and I "prefer" it not be directly a part of the game. I cannot think of a game that allows for the editing of the main character without a complete lack of immersion, such as mmo's. The main character we make will have absolutely no personality, except for the choices he or she will make. This includes certain abilities that are acquired or training that is taken. If we can change and unlearn what has been established then these decisions are trivialised and you've got a 1 dimensional character.

Sounds to me like you are just trying to make the game cater to an exclusive few instead of a majority of players for your own ego stroking. And it sounds like instead of legitimate arguments you tend to move toward name calling. I have no idea if the game will be hard or easy, but it sounds like your in game character might roll a higher intel than your real life persona.
I'm not sure I understand you, it must be my low intelligence and terrible ego that prohibits me from accepting anything other than my own views. I can not speak for others or know what "majority of players" want. All I can say are my views and and "I" want or what "I" think.
I have also, like you boasted, played many rpg's for 80¨s 90's and the 00's. Many were bad, more were terrible and a certain few I found to be good. The mechanics we are discussing in this thread are from games that come from the "bad" catagory. Boring, repetitive and no replay value. I am not saying that EP will turn out that way, but I have yet to see a good game succeed with such a handicap mechanic.

I look at saving a game as a tool of the player not the character. I actually have nothing against a character editor and you can create and edit whatever you like, outside the game. I just have something against something holding my hand and forgiving me for all my mistakes in the game itself. It is like being allowed to take back moves when playing chess. I have no idea wether the game will be hard or easy, but it sounds like you want a game not worth playing.
-
I have played most every RPG I could get my hand on since the early 90s. I like respeccing. I thought the game was catering to fans of isometric RPGs. I am not sure how having an option to respec hurts that, other than making the game more restrictive, which only makes people who want a restrictive game, which I, as a donator, oppose.
Restrictive? How about the freedom to fail? If we allow respeccing, why not allow repeateble quests so that you can finish them in every possible way? SO MUCH freedom! It like MAGIC! You can do whatever you like and no consequences! Weeeeeeee!

So, in conclusion. When I get into trouble with a difficult enemy, I just respec my characters to suite the situation.
Never make a feature that is abusable, just because you would not abuse it.
If the cost is too much, then no one would use it.

Easy way to use consumables?

Or double-clicking the item on the model of the character, if that is any clearer.
