  1. From Alpha 9 (with nearly no content) to v1.0 (with almost no content) in a blink of an eye. Double Fine makes it possible.

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/09/18/double-fine-early-access-spacebase-df9/

Double Fine have announced that development of Spacebase DF-9 is coming to an end and the development plan listing planned features has been removed. The Steam Early Access page has been updated to state that version 1.0 is due for release. It “will be its final major update”, according to the recently updated development plans page. The previous version of that page contained hundreds of features that “might possibly” be implemented at some point. Today’s update makes it clear that any future implementation will be in the hands of the users rather than Double Fine themselves, thanks to a full source code release.
  2. John Carmack' monetisation idea on QuakeWorld (back in the 90's)

“My halfway thought out proposal for a biz plan is that we let anyone play the game as an anonymous newbie to see if they like it, but to get their name registered and get on the ranking list, they need to pay $10 or so. Newbies would be automatically kicked from servers if a paying customer wants to get on. Sound reasonable?”

Never been a big FPS / Quake fan myself, but kind a glad this didn't happened.

  3. StarCrawlers a SciFi Dungeon Crawler from Juggernaut Games: StarCrawlers features randomly generated maps, missions, events and loot combined with deep character customization and a tactical time-unit based combat system to create an endless dungeon crawling experience. You’ll be running missions on the hulks of abandoned ships, fighting the remnants of security systems (and who knows what else…?!), all while venturing deeper and deeper in search of a big score.

  4.

It might be already answered, but I could not find it.

Can I play every class as male and female? Do they have different stats for battle?

You can play any class as male or female.  Our character creation screens briefly describe the different roles men and women play in various societies of Eora, but they do not inherently differ in stats or capability.

    Sounds great, thank you!

The robots in Half-Life at least looked a bit more like they could exist in the setting.

Thre were no robots in HL.

Of course there were robots. If you don't remember them, you obviously never played the German version of Half Life.

  6. So just watch. If PoE gets any press post E3, it will be some sort of snarky, hardcore d&d grinder who describes it as the death-throes of the isometric rpg-game. Making a point of how real time combat is Obsidian's kneefalling attempt to woo "modern gamers". While then moving on to a first-person time-waster as if it's the second coming of Christ in the next feature.

Lets see this next week, after the press embargo is lifted.

  7. Hey guys!

Planning to purchase an iMac 2013 and wonder will the cheapest version (with Iris integrated graphics) run PoE smoothly, or do I need to buy the one with GT 750M? Won't be playing games except WL2, PoE and TToN, but I want to make sure those three run perfectly.

I think the most demanding of this 3 regarding GPU power will be WL2 because its completely 3D. Maybe there is someone out there with your desired HW setup who already played the Beta of WL2 and can tell how smooth it runs.

  8.

I want them to show me SOME gameplay, an actual proof that the game is on the way to what they promised us in the first place.

For our money, Obsidian promised us to make a game they want, the way they want (including marketing). Back then, this promise was enough for you. Why have you lost confidence in Obsidian now? Because Obsidian shows a video to the press and not to you?

There are KS where you can pledge to get all the press releases, created builds and so on. But Obsidian never promised this. They promised insights in to the development process, and with 80 Updates and hundreds of forum posts by the developers they delivered this (in my view, you may think otherwise).

  9. You want your descendants to live in a world like StarTrek, Babylon5 or Firefly? Have them travel between the stars and colonize new planets? Then you need to back this project, because if the children of today are not educated in astronomy and space sciences, who would be interested in building Space Ships to leave the earth?

So this is not a game, but a project worth your money: Universe in a Box

Inspiring every child with our wonderful Universe (in a Box)

Children across the globe find space the most interesting topic in school but educators often lack the resources and training to engage kids in this exciting subject. We want to educate schoolchildren around the world in astronomy and space sciences by training teachers and sending them a really cool interactive teaching resource: Universe in a Box!

Universe in a Box is a physical toolbox for teachers and educators that makes teaching astronomy and space sciences to 4-10 year old children effective, engaging and fun.

Pledge now and receive astronomy kits for your classroom. With your pledge we send the boxes to where they're needed most: underprivileged schools around the world, building a global network of education communities.

  10. Haven't received a death-thread yet, but I'm still young, so maybe later...

But I've backed some projects on Kickstarter

    AdvertCity

A cyberpunk advertising tycoon strategy game, set in massive procedurally generated cities with a retro vision of cyberspace.

Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow comes Today - A dark point and click adventure

It's an Old-school 2D graphic adventure game featuring space-time distortions, a dystopian atmosphere... and a dark, bloodstained plot.d3024386248cee741ba5179be983f9e6_large.g

  11. Epoch: Return

World exploration game where you are locating wrecked ships and salvaging material to repair your own crashed ship

Still early in development; the sky, clouds, and HUD look nice while the ground reminds me of driving up straight cliffs in the original Mass Effect.

    Epoch: Return got canceled :(
