  1. If it has been said that they try make a world roughly similar to 14th century, then I suppose I must admit its starting to make a little sense to have very CRUDE guns. Judging from everything else I have seen, which isn't that much yet, it seemed more standard high medieval though. I'm just learning of this game today so I'm not as up to date as most of you folk. Hopefully we won't see turrets and stuff And yes, I know that is is fantasy as some of you say, but *I* think it is important that even a fictional world need to at least roughly resemble a real-world time-period and stay true to that period - and technology and such in the world should be as such. F.ex There's no point in going around waving with swords if the world's technology allows for machine-guns, tanks and destroyers, right, just to make my point.
  2. Heh, I came in just today. Didn't know about this game until today. What is the historically based time frame that inspired the game then, precisely ? Have they said so? As for gunpowder and real-world history, I BELIEVE (Feel free to correct me if I am wrong) that gunpowder was discovered around year 900 but didn't reach Europe until far later. Very crude guns were first used around 1300 I believe . Very primitive things. Medieval period had surely passed by the time guns were really put to use. Must have been rennesaince. Of course, that doesn't mean they are not free to include guns in their game... It's just my honest opinion that it is plain silly.
  3. This thread talks of hiring Justin Sweet, yet I see all of these portraits from Icewind Dale in this thread. Then let me tell you that it was the brilliant Jason Manley who did the portraits for Icewind Dale. Do not give Justin Sweet the credits for Manley's work. Justin Sweet did the portraits for Icewind Dale II though, I believe. Anyway, Justin Sweet is a brilliant artist too, and him doing the portraits for this game would have been awesome.
  4. In one of the artworks did I see a woman in armor with a RIFLE ?? If I have gotten this right this fictional world is supposed to be a "medieval fantasy world" with swords and shields and spears and armor, right? Do not make the mistake of adding rifles, firearms, cannons etc. It just doesn't belong. We've seen such things included in World of Warcraft to name one game and its just plain silly. Let medieval high fantasy be medieval high fantasy. This is not 'western' or 'science-fiction', unless I have missed something... Hopefully guns will not be seen in the game. That certainly is my honest opinion and my hope. With that said, I'm really excited about this upcoming game. A return to the good old days we had with the Infinity Engine Games and such? Yes !! :D
