Alright we've passed over 2.5 million and gotten Barbarians and Ciphers, lets go ahead and set that 2.7 million stretch goal of adding the Paladin and Bard to the game.

@curryinahurry - yeah I think everyone gets that I think we're really just pushing for them to be a 'supported 'subclass in game and so have some sort of in-game reactivity to the choice to play as one. At least that's been my interpretation of the comments, I don't think there would be too much complaining if this was how Obsidian chose to implement them.
Do they really need to have a "title" of their own? What if you can pick skills and feats/traits/whatever that can make your fighter do what a paladin does in traditional D&D?
I'm probably hoping for more character build customization options than a larger number of traditional classes.
I respectfully disagree good sir, give me fully fleshed out paladin and bard character classes, full of awesome bad guy smiting and musical buffing bells and whistles (respectively). The monk and cipher do absolutely nothing for me personally, but I know there are people out there looking forward to those classes, and I wouldnt take that away from them. My first ever BG character was a Paladin, who worshiped Helm...EVER VIGILANT!

A Templar type of Paladin can be a subset of the cleric class
A Cavalier type of knight can be a subset of the fighter class
Bards can be a subset of the rogue class
There really is no need for an entirely new class
Barbarians can be a subset of fighter.
Druids can be a subset of priest.
Rangers can be a subset of fighter (or rogue).
Ciphers can be a subset of wizard.
I mean why do we need anymore than just the four base classes?

After we get Paladins and Bards, sure thing.
Paladins and Bards should be added as the stretch goal for reaching 5 trillion......right after increasing the amount of dirt on the dungeon floors and being completely out of ideas for more interesting things to do.
Funny, thats how I feel about monks and psionisists (oops, I mean ciphers).

Whats funny is if they had already included Paladins and Bards with the other official classes, noone would have a problem with them being in the game.

D&D style gods. One (or rather, three) of my favorite D&D supplements ever are the 2E Forgotten Realms deity books, Faiths & Avatars, Powers & Pantheons, and Demihuman Deities. They were so jam packed full of juicy flavor and lore (not to mention fun priest kits).

Thank you for making this thread, I made a comment on the kickstarter update about Paladins and Bards, and would have made a thread if you hadn't. Personally I think these should be implemented before the Barbarian and Cipher(Psionisist), they are D&D and IE game staples and need representation.

Does anyone remember the Crom Faeyr or the Vorpal Sword? The most powerful weapons in the whole game, scattered into multiple pieces in the whole gameworld, having to hunt down each unique component one by one and hiring a master blacksmith for extreme amounts of gold to put it back together in a couple of days (or weeks???, that part is a little foggy in my memory).
Personally I would be completely fine with something like this, but I tend to look at those as epic quest rewards rather than crafting in the the true sense.

I do not want to see crafting and enchanting in the game. Let us adventure for our items of power, not slave away over a forge or workbench doing mini games.
I would probably be ok with it if it was limited to potions and scrolls only, but preferably not at all.
So I Left the Guy Naked in the Adventurer's Hall...

For the most part I want it handled the way it was done in the BG series, and I voted as such. I'm not a fan of how you worded these poll questions, putting such a negative weight on the answers you don't agree with, but I do find it quite funny that in 2 of the 3 polls the "negative" ones are winning.
