  1. Achievements support is planned for GOG Galaxy at release, so I see no reason for PoE ones to be added, assuming GOG wizards are the one to do the work on converting the Steam achievements code to Galaxy-compatible code. On the other hand, if the conversion work is in the hands of Obsidian I’m not sure it’ll come on Galaxy launch day, as they will most probably be busy patching PoE and/or developing its expansion pack.

  2. I haven't played SR:R (yet), but I think portrait+text only works brilliantly in SR:DF.

    While there is not as much depth in SR:R characters than what you can find with SR:DF companions, Harebrained Schemes still did an awesome work in conveying lots of emotion through the silent game SR:R is.

    I played SR:R first, so I don’t know if the few lacking points it has compared to SR:DF might be a show-stopper for some people, but I still recommend it without any hesitation if you enjoyed the latter.

    On the subject, I’m waiting for a final build before playing through Pillars of Eternity. I’ve played until the first big city though, and while there has been a bit too much voice-over to my taste, the lack of portraits for non-playable characters didn’t really disturbed me. Of course, I would happily welcome the addition of a couple portraits for plot critical characters like the dwarf woman on a tree who greet you quite early in the game.

  3.

    Quoting you to get your attention, I’d like to know if Obsidian is okay with my unofficial patches project:

    Unofficial patch 1.05 -> 1.06 for the Linux version sold on GOG.com is live:

    https://www.gog.com/forum/pillars_of_eternity/linux_unofficial_patches

    ~76MB only, enjoy wink.png

    I do not have much worries about it, as there’s no way to extract usable game data from my patches if you don’t own the full game already (there are easier ways to get game data without paying for it anyway), but a more or less official confirmation would be really nice.

  4. You can contact them by sending an email to support@obsidian.net

    But I’m not sure they’re the ones qualified to proceed your request, that’s Paradox who is handling customer support for retail versions of Pillars of Eternity.

    You should be able to contact Paradox customer support through the following page:

    https://paradox.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  5. /!\ This thread is now obsolete, here you go for up-to-date instructions:

    Install PoE & extensions on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc.

    The scripts proposed here accept some options to tweak the state of the final package. I’ll describe them here, with the following format:

    VARIABLE=default,alternative1,alternative2,etc.

    First thing is not an option per se. If you renamed your installer, or don’t want to copy/move it in the same directory than the script, you can run the script by giving it the path to the installer. If you own some GOG DLC, they will be automatically found as long as they are in the same directory than the archive and they have not been renamed.

    sh ./play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh "/home/watcher/GOG Games/PoE-1.06.tar.gz"

    PREFIX=/usr/local,any absolute path

    You can use this option to install the game in alternative places:

    PREFIX=/opt/poe sh ./play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh

    COMPRESSION=none,gzip,xz

    You can use this option to use dpkg-deb built-in compression methods to reduce the size of the final package, at the cost of increased building and installation times:

    COMPRESSION=xz sh ./play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh

    CHECKSUM=md5sum,none

    Allows you to skip the archive integrity check:

    CHECKSUM=none sh ./play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh

    Of course, you can use any combination of these options.

  6. Hello fellow Debianists, Ubunteros and Mint fanatics!

    I’m here to present you a way to convert the .tar.gz archive sold by GOG.com into .deb packages that can be natively installed on your distribution throught tools like DPKG, and removed through APT (synaptic, apt-get, aptitude, etc.). The building process is done through a shell script that should work "out-of-the-box" on any Debian-based distribution.

    So, here are the scripts:

    version 1.06, GOG release 1.4.0.6, French version: http://www.dotslashplay.it/scripts/fr/play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh

    version 1.06, GOG release 1.4.0.6, English version: http://www.dotslashplay.it/scripts/en/play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh

    (updated on 2015-06-04)

    old versions of the scripts are kept online in case you need them (if you want to convert an old archive):

    French versions: http://www.dotslashplay.it/scripts/fr/

    English versions: http://www.dotslashplay.it/scripts/en/

    Choose the one corresponding to your version of the game, the language is just the language used by the script, and has no effect on your game language.

    Now, how to use it?

    1. Download the script, and place it in the same directory than the game archive (gog_pillars_of_eternity_1.4.0.6.tar.gz).

    If you own some GOG DLC (gog_pillars_of_eternity_dlc1_1.0.0.1.tar.gz, gog_pillars_of_eternity_dlc2_1.0.0.1.tar.gz and/or gog_pillars_of_eternity_dlc3_1.0.0.1.tar.gz), put them in the same directory;

    2. Run the script via sh:

    sh ./play-pillars-of-eternity_gog-1.4.0.6.sh
    3. Everything beside this point is automated. Just wait a dozen minutes, and the script will end by giving you the command to run as root to install the freshly built .deb packages.

    4. Enjoy the rebirth of old-school RPG on your favourite GNU/Linux distribution!

  7. Anyone knows if the serial "key" works with the GOG.com as well? Maybe I can download the game from there?

    The DVD is tied to Steam only, its key included, sorry for bringing bad news.

    If there is no Steam package on your OS, here is what I would do:

    _create a Steam account via its website (not sure if required)

    _download and install the Windows version of Steam through WINE

    _follow the short installation guide I linked you to in my previous post (it does not require to download anything)

    _delete Steam, its WINE prefix, your Steam account (if you needed to create one at some point) and even WINE if you like

  8. Looks like some Steam-encryption system, I’d guess you have no choice but to run the Setup.exe file on a Windows machine or through WINE to get the actual game data.

    Wasteland 2 retail DVD uses the same system as far as I know, if I find anything about a way to get the DVD working on Linux on the inXile forums I’ll report back here.

    -----

    Okay, you might find some help from the method inXile developer tonurics shared in the following thread:

    https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11081

    Jump to the "Getting the game files from the installation media" part of the first post.

  9. The packages built by this script allow for an easy way to install some popular mods.

    All work in the same way: a command to launch after you’ve installed the .deb package. If the command is launched without argument, and the mod installer/archive can’t be found in your $HOME directory or in the game directory, the script will give you an URL from where to download it.

    Here is the list if supported mods and the command to run to install them:

    _KotOR 1 Restoration 0.9 (for KotOR1)

    kotor_k1r_0.9 "/some/path/to/K1R_Restoration_0.9.7z"
    _TSLRCM 1.8.3B (for KotOR2)

    kotor2_tslrcm_1.8.3b "/some/path/to/TSLRCM 183b.exe"
    _M47-8EP 1.1B (for KotOR2)

    kotor2_m478ep_1.1b "/some/path/to/M478EP 11b.exe"

    Now, how to use it?

    1. Download the script, and place it in the same directory than the game installer (.exe and .bin files);

    2. Run the script via sh, here is an exemple for the KotOR1 script (you have to run it from the directory containing the script and installer):

    sh ./play-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic_gog-2.0.0.3.sh
    3. Everything beside this point is automated. Just wait a couple minutes, and the script will end by giving you the command to run as root to install the freshly built .deb package.

  12. Try this:

    I have passed this onto my colleague Tomas, who looks after the shipping of the PoE Kickstarter goods. I'm sure he will contact you soon.

    Here is his direct email if required

    tomas.harenstam@paradoxplaza.com

    Thank you again, I got a very quick answer from Tomas (sent my e-mail during the week-end, got an answer today).

    We’re now working the details before they send me a new map.

  13. Hello everyone!

    We've been looking into this issue. If you received a blurry map and would like a replacement, please contact support@paradoxplaza.com. Paradox is working together with the company who printed the maps in order to send out replacements when needed.

    - Rose

    I’ve sent them an e-mail to request a replacement for the map I received.

    It’s now been ten days, without any sign of life from Paradox.

    Do you have some advice about this?
