Yap, the lack of moderation makes it fun
(neither this or constantine topic should have been allowed to live)
As I mentioned before, there's more factual reasoning in the OP in this thread than Constantine's thread.
-
If the other thread is supposed to be part 2, then just merge this with it. Otherwise I'll just copy and paste everything.
-
Oh come on, there's actually a lot of writing in PoE that is very good. I haven't caught myself groaning even once. The storytelling, the narrative, could be better, and I get the feeling that they cut stuff from the storyline itself, but the actual writing is good.
I didn't say it was all bad. But there is stuff in PoE that when you think you're making choices in the game, especially at the end of Act 2 where you're carefully considering options in dialogue, the rug is completely pulled out from under you voiding any careful options you just took.

Here's Wiki on trolling:
"In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3]"
Grr, I was baited hard. Still not sure if fallacy, bias and lies qualify as trolling per se.
So Constantine's thread is a troll thread. Thanks for confirming that. Or as Luckman suggests, Constantine may be slightly retarded, or at least an idiot.

Just please learn the difference between good writing and bad.
Speaking of which. PoE.

Apparently, I'm too old to play this game: Guess what tone the post/thread was made in. And is it really funny even then, I mean, having a go at... Hmm, wonder whether this vitriol or bile is for real this time or fake. It's still trolling and spamming to a semi-oldie like me. It's tiresome, at least, that much I'm sure of. I wish I had the iron will of Stun when he for instance debates Gromnir, but sadly I don't.
if you think this is a troll thread, then Constantine's thread is a troll thread too. It's full of fallacy, bias, and lies. At least Sensuki made factual points in his OP.

This is really getting pathetic.
I agree, especially people like yourself throwing poo at other people.

Normally we'd close duplicate threads, but we just closed the main one (the forum has a weird quirk and starts to go crazy when threads get too long). So let's make this one Part Two.
If this is supposed to be Part 2, then the thread title should be changed to reflect that.

There were people who did agree with Darth Roxor's review or at the very least quite a few points in the original (close to 900 post) thread. I'd have to say I agree with a lot of what Darth Roxor had to say as well.

Well GFY (variable interpretation contingent on whether L2P was meant derisively). So how did you beat the wolves and bandits with a single rogue with minimal HP/Endurance?
I've already shown this with the xaurips at the xaurip camp. You position yourself so you're either taking on one or two at most. The xaurips you can line up in a straight line and you take on one at a time. When one dies, the next steps up in line. The bandits weren't that hard. The wolves were harder and as long as I was sneak attacking, they went down pretty quick. And you have abilities that can make you sneak attack.

I wonder how his optimal build did Temple of Eothas...
Very easy on hard. But then I do have over 100 hours in the beta working out optimal builds. So I probably have an advantage over other people who don't have experience with the game.
-
That's cool. And if you didn't experience any significant trade-off where this decision affected your tactical disposition or gear selection, then you probably have a good point. In my case however, dumping con forces me to play with a much more static and inflexible ranged-only backline. I would e.g. never dream of going in stabbing if I new that the likelyhood of being KO'ed would be twice as high. And that's a significant tradeoff in my book.
But... if your point is that you a certain optimal playstyle makes con an insignificant stat for your backline, then I would probably agree with this. But in my book, that makes calling con a dump stat for thieves a bit of a stretch. It's rather a dump stat for a particular play-style. But that's not what is usually meant by a dumpstat.
Not at all. I was able to take on all the enemies except for the bears at Valewood with a melee rogue. And I've been able to have my rogue go into melee numerous times. L2P.
-
I am sorry I am not arguing or debating. I am giving examples of what happened to me. If you dump CON on your rogue on hard, a shade or shadow will will one shot the rogue. It will leave your wizard and go to your rogue...
And I'm giving examples of what happened to me. I have dumped Con on my ranged nude rogue and play on hard and never got one shotted at all. I can understand if you're not optimally building your rogue and dying.
-
In all fairness though, "*shrug* it works on my end" is probably not the answer Prime was looking for.
And everybody else who's been exploiting it too. But everybody who's exploiting it is obviously wrong and the people who haven't are obviously right! Gotcha.
-
If you dump CON on a rogue that already has low CON...you are in very deep trouble. The AI tends to target party members with the lowest CON and your rogue will be one shotted by shades or shadows.
Not for a ranged rogue like mine. And no, the A.I. doesn't target low Con characters. In fact, I've shown videos to prove that it doesn't.
-
You're being a ****. First rule of not being a **** club: "don't be a ****ing ****". It follows that membership requires you to respond to the full post, and not just one sentence out of context. You claimed that a con of three didn't have painful repercussions. I've argued that this view is mistaken. If you want justify the existance of your response, provide reasons why I am wrong.
I've been dumping Con for my back line since the beta went live. And I'm not the only one who's been doing that. I'll take experience and the experience of others over your theories any day.
-
That would make him/her more squishy when faced with teleporting monsters, or if you fail to protect your backline adequately. You may of course then argue that those monsters are few and far between, and that the AI sucks, but that's a really big stretch to make the observation fit the conclusion.
Hasn't for me. In fact my rogue not only dumped Con but is also not wearing any clothes or armour.

Oh and the reason is because I see you and others trying to poison the PoE well, actively trying to hurt its sales as far as I can tell, and I refuse to let you people have your little echo chamber of negativity.
And to be clear I have no problem with people not liking the game, or even hating the game, but it's downright ridiculous to spam its forums with the same negativity over and over again.
LOL.
New to the Obsidian Forums I see. What you're seeing with people being negative to the game isn't something new. There have been people critical of the design decisions over the last two years including myself.
Oh btw, welcome to the Obsidian forums. Get used to it.

The judging of Halrond as evil and his actions as non-legitimate has already been done by the developers; your job as the PC is just to decide the punishment (or lack there of in exchange for money).
Actually, this is a good point you've raised with judging Lord Halrond.
1. If you kill him, you lose reputation (with Defiance Bay).
2. If you black mail him and let him live, you lose reputation (with Defiance Bay).
3. If you let him go and act as nothing has happened, you gain reputation (with Defiance Bay).
I went with the third option. Who is my character to judge? And by that action I was rewarded.

I haven't been able to find:
- Tiny Spider - Supposedly in the stronghold, but it's not in any room, container, or vendor.
- Terrier - Supposed to be with Gordy. It's not there or anywhere else in Copperlane for that matter.
- Tiny Sporeling - Allegedly at Iswld in the Golden Grove (Elm's Reach). Not there or at merchant.
I'm also missing these as well. The guide says they're with the people/locations you mentioned. I'm assuming these three are bugged.
-
Sure, and Sensuki has stated his negative enough times already. I sure wouldn't be posting constantly on the forums of a game I hate, but then I guess I'm just not that messed up in the head...

Because I think from their perspective BG2 was a perfect game. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia.
You 'think'? So you really have no idea. And who is 'their'? I've never seen anyone say BG2 is a perfect game. Time to stop making stuff up because all it does is hurt your argument.

Suggestions to improve the game? You mean like people have been doing over the last two years and since the beta went live. Good luck!
If there's anything Darth Roxor may have underestimated, it's the butthurt of millions of voices suddenly crying out in terror...
